Ladies and gents, we have a new leader!
That’s right, after leading the field and dominating completely for 13 rounds, sexkitten has finally been overtaken by none other than Fattmann. Holding the slenderest of leads (half a point), thanks in no small part to his MVP bonus for the last round, fattmann knows that anything less than a superb haul of points this weekend could see sexkitten retake her accustomed position. OK, did that sound as bad as I think it did?
Looking at the current log, after 14 rounds, bstott is still firmly entrenched in the top 3, but has a fair bit of ground to make up on the two leaders. Walter and Silver Fox make up the rest of the top 5. Special mention needs to go to two of our favourite ladies, Ice and Sharksmad. Both of them have been regular fixtures in the weekly top 5, with Ice in particular picking herself up off the bottom of the standing and literally racing up the leaderboard in the last few weeks. Silver Fox is another who is regularly to be found amongst the frontrunners.
Looking at the list of MVPs as it currently stands, Morne Steyn and Earl Rose are still neck and neck for first position, with the Bulls man having edged ahead of his Lions rival in recent weeks. Winning captains are always a good bet and it’s not really surprising to see the trio of Johann Muller, Wikus van Heerden and Baywatch Grobbelaar completing the top 5.
Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, the following team would have scored a total of 769.75 poits, nett of any MVP or try scoring bonuses:

1.TRIES need to count for more points than they do now.
You can’t have a backline player who scored 3 tries taking home virtually the same amount of points as a winning captain who did practically nothing for the whole game.
2. Player named on bench gets half of what the starting players get.

I would have the 2 Lions locks that are out injured and Freddie was a stupid selection ..Keegan Daniel and M.Steyn have scored me major points.From being stone last Im one place away from breaking into the top20 😎
@just blackshark (Comment 13) : point 1 is an absolute must! Tries need to count at least double what they do now. I do like the diminishing value of tries based on position, but I agree the weighting is wrong.
We need to have different scoring for players that start, are named on the bench and come on and those that are on the bench but don’t get onto the field.
Also keen to have a negative score for a guy who captains his side to a loss…

@robdylan (Comment 4) : I agree. While this was not a bad attempt at all, there should be ways to improve on it a bit.
I have one suggestion. That would be to pick the squad as one do now, but that only your top fifteen scorers count for the week. You can call them your match day fifteen. In other words Rob, it should be a matter of arranging a participants scores per player from highest to lowest, then dumping the score from 16 downwards. It will counter injuries and guys playing for the boks, but bring them into immediate contention should they play. 💡
