The Boland Kavaliers have made three changes – all among the forwards – for Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup rugby match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

Classy fetcher Zolani Mofu returns as flanker in the place of Angelo Brinkhuis. His main job will be to try and neutralise Heinrich Brussouw.

Lock Brad Mockford is suffering from a slight stomach injury and coach Deon Davids has decided to give him a well-deserved rest.

He will be replaced by Cecil Kemp, who is a honest hard worker. Kemp should take this opportunity with both hands.

And at hooker Pieter Wium makes a welcome return in place of Harry Vermaas, who has a calf injury.

The backline that played against Western Province last week remains the same.

On the reserve bench under-21 lock Johan Peacock gets a chance with Frikkie Spies also injured.

The Boland Team : Justin Peach, Deon Scholtz, Piet van Zyl (capt), Dewey Swartbooi, Danwel Demas, Elgar Watts, Marnus Hugo, David Hendricks, Josh Strauss, Zolani Mofu, Nico Esterhuyse, Cecil Kemp, Jacobie Adriaanse, Pieter Wium, Janro van Niekerk.

Replacements: Clemen Lewis, Jean Botha, Johan Peacock, Angelo Brinkhuis, Neil Papier, Hein Myburgh, Lionel Cornelius.

  • Hope Boland will show some mettle in this game. Sure they will try and impress to get some Cheetah contracts with Hawie.
