Perth – Wallabies star Matt Giteau has threatened to walk out on the Force before the start of next season if he is not paid more than $1m owed to him following the collapse of franchise sponsor Firepower according to a report in Thursday’s West Australian
Giteau, 26, joined the Force at the beginning of the 2007 season with supplementary payments from Firepower crucial to his move to the west.
The Wallabies five-eighth has been rumoured to want a return to the Brumbies as he has only received money from Firepower for the 2007.
The West Australian reports that Giteau wants to be paid the full amount owed under his contract before he considers staying at the franchise.
“I’d be surprised and disappointed if it came to that,” Force chief executive Greg Harris told the West Australian. “We consider him integral to our viability.”
