Japanese club NEC have rejected an offer from the Bulls to utilise Jaco van der Westhuyzen during the Super 14.
Sport 24 reports that Van der Westhuyzen was recruited in 2007 and played a central role in their Super 14 success. However, NEC feel their prized asset requires a break in their off season and have opted to decline an offer for the former Springbok utility back.
“The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd did everything within their power to secure the services of Van der Westhuyzen and they will make another effort in the next couple of days to sign him, but at the end we will have to respect NEC’s final decision,” the Bulls said in a press release.

Are they serious!??!
What possible role can he play!??!
I really don’t think the Bulls need him actually.
The have Francis and Steyn at flyhalf, and Kirchner and Mangweni at fullback, Jaco would spend most of his time earning a salary for doing nothing.
@Hmmm (Comment 2) : maybe they want somebody with that little bit more experience when things will get hot.Steyn, Kirchner, Francis – still very young.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 3) : so it would be like his job in Japan?
