The Rebel Sharks Supporters Club have put a package together for you to enjoy a weekend of sun (hopefully) and rugby.
Now there are a few complications due to the fact that we’re organising this on a non-profit basis. The main issue is that we don’t know in advance how many of you will book and the transport costs vary according to the number of people. So the strategy we are adopting is to quote you on the maximum cost which we have estimated based on a smaller number of supporters. Should we fill a vehicle then the cost will go down and we will refund the difference to you. We will collate receipts of all the costs after the weekend is finished and email them out.
So here’s the deal per person:
2 nights B&B accommodation with fully cooked breakfast
All transport costs to Durban return
1 ticket to the Brumbies game in the open stands
Possible get together braai after the game (we are still arranging this)
Here are our minimum, medium and maximum estimates.
Minimum (assumes full vehicle) = R1200.00
Medium (expected) = R1500.00
Maximum (assumes worst case scenario) = R2000.00
So as you can see, the costs come down drastically the more people we get together. Also included in the maximum quote is a 10% buffer for any unforeseen incidentals so that we organisers don’t take any personal risk. Assuming all goes to plan, it’s an automatic R200.00 back. Please specify if you would like a single or double room.
Any other costs (e.g. additional meals) are your responsibility.
The itinerary will look like this:
Friday March 27
– Depart Johannesburg early afternoon
– Arrive at B&B Friday evening
Saturday March 28
– Morning group or individual activity. We might decide to go to uShaka or something along those lines or you can be dropped at the beach for the morning. Matt will be disappearing down to Umkomaas to do some diving so anyone wanting to join him may do so as well.
– Mid-afternoon ride to Kings Park to watch the game
– Post-game braai at the stadium
Sunday March 29
– Midday departure from Durban
– Early evening arrival in Johannesburg
For Durbanites that would like to join us, the cost is R85 for the ticket.
We will let you know closer to the time what will happen with the braai but that wouldn’t be more than R50 pp.
So that’s the plan. If you’re keen, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll get you our account details. Payment must be made in full by 7 March. We realise this is very short notice but this is something of a learning curve for us so next time we’ll be able to give you more time.

Thanks to SW for the punt. 🙂
Yes, please let people know about this. It is a first try out for us in terms of bus trips but I think we can make a success of it.
If I was in Dbn I’d drive to Jhb just to be in the bustrip to Dbn. 😆
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) : LOL.
sounds like fun 🙂
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) : So you’re not going to drive from Riyadh to Joburg instead? 😕
@klempie (Comment 5) :
I’d consider it, but it’s the drive from Khobar to Riyadh, before that, that might just make the trip a little to long. 😛 😆
Where, and at what time do you come to pick up the Cape based contingent.
@Salmonoid (Comment 7) :
Take a Green Kulula to JHB and we will pick you up.. 😈 😉
@Ice (you can leave your hat on!) (Comment 8) :
Green Kulula????????? Is that like a new drug or new dop in SA that makes you think you are somewhere else? 😆 😉
@Ice (you can leave your hat on!) (Comment 8) :
❓ are you Gauties scared of a short detour? 😈
@KSA Shark © (Comment 9) :
It makes you “FLY”, brother!! 😆
@Salmonoid (Comment 10) :
If you promise that we will get a huge party for the little detour – no problem!
@Ice (you can leave your hat on!) (Comment 11) :
Absobloodylutely. 😀
@Salmonoid (Comment 10) : I am a Natal boy. I have already made a 17 year detour in Joeys.
@klempie (Comment 13) :
Same here, I know what you mean. The other ocean and the other mountains are starting to call.
@Salmonoid (Comment 14) : You mean the ocean that you can actually swim in is calling.
@klempie (Comment 15) :
Yebo.
Keeping this current. Come on and bite!
