The Last Man Standing competition on Just Rugby has come to an end and we have a winner.
Going into the final Round of Super 14 matches we still had nine players in with a chance of winning the Two tickets to watch the Springboks take on the British Lions in the first test in Durban.
It seems as if a lot of people followed the tactic of leaving the Cheetahs until they absolutely HAD to pick them. It almost paid off, but almost doesn’t win you any prizes, unfortunately.
The Punters walked away from the last round as the Last Man Standing and will be going to watch the Springboks take on the Lions in Durban. And what a worthy winner he is. He has walked away with his head held high not requiring ONE default pick to be used.
Congratulations, The Punters. An email with further details is on its way to you.
I am sure there may have been more than one road to ensuring you were the Last Man Standing, but this was the route that The Punters followed.
Round 1 – Bulls
Round 2 – Stormers
Round 3 – Reds
Round 4 – Hurricanes
Round 5 – Blues
Round 6 – Highlanders
Round 7 – Crusaders
Round 8 – Chiefs
Round 9 – Brumbies
Round 10 – Cheetahs (Lifeline used)
Round 11 – Western Force
Round 12 – The Sharks
Round 13 – Lions
Round 14 – Waratahs
We will be running a Last Man Standing competition for the 2009 Currie Cup competition with a few variations on the existing competition. We don’t want you ALL winning the prize.
There are three more S14 matches left in the season and we will then be announcing the winner of the Just Rugby Fantasy League competition.
The winner of the Fantasy League competition will be watching the Sharks play the British Lions in Durban
At the moment it is a close run affair at the top with The OP Sharks leading the way from Sandshark and Mbaysharks.

Congratulations to The Punters!
Well done.
Congrats The Punters, that was a damn difficult competition. I like it.
Congrats The Punters!
I got screwed when I left all the South African teams till the end. Sharks cost me against the Cheetahs! 😥 😆
The OP Sharks is my brother! 😎 (Onderstepoort Sharks)
Well done to The Punters. 😎
Keep an eye on Pokkel’s Palooka’s, steadily moving up the Fantasy League….maybe just too late to win it though from 5th place 🙁
@molly (Comment 2) :
Ag it’s dead easy, you just gotta pick one winner a weekend. 😆
@Frisbee (Comment 3) :
Are you joining him, for the game if he wins?
@Pokkel (Comment 4) :
I am screwed now that the Semi’s are here and I have no trades left with no less than 12 Sharks in my squad. 🙁
@molly (Comment 2) :
Damn!!!!!!! Molly you are sitting pretty!!!!!
You still have 8 trades left. If you use those well you could just shoot up the table when we all drop off the pace.
I suspect Punters is an alter ego of some chap called Rob Dylan 😯
Well done to him 😆
Congrats to the winner.
Maybe next time I will make it past the SECOND round. 😥
great work rferguson and a great competition. Thanks must go to KSA for coming up with the format and being the creative director all the way through.
I’m just the monkey who writes the code around here 🙂
@KSA Shark © (Comment 6) : Yes!!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 7) : Same boat, and my heart kept me away from Bulls players… ❗ 🙄
WOW!!!!!!!
The OP Sharks is going to be a nervous wreck in the coming weeks, He only has NINE players in his squad that are playing in the semi’s and he only has two trades left.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 7) : I had about 6 trade left 2 weeks ago and only traded into Hurricanes and Chiefs players. I also forgot to pick a captain and a starting 15 in the first round which is coming back to haunt me now
@KSA Shark © (Comment 13) :
Molly isn’t MUCH better off with only 10 players in the play-offs in her current squad, but those 8 trades are going to come in VERY handy.
@wpw (Comment 10) : Ouch 🙄
@Pokkel (Comment 14) :
you have 12 play-off players with 0 trades left, could also be close. 😎
@wpw (Comment 10) :
And NOT get a reminder email to pick for round three to rub salt in the wounds. 😆
Congratulations to Sharksworld / JustRugby for entertaining websites and exciting competitions.
Well Done Punters! Hope you’ll be treated to a wonderful 80 minutes of rugby.
I have 8 players in the play-offs. 🙁
Thanx Guys..
I must admit, I started getting nervous towards the end there.
That Lions forward pass got me some awesome tickets.

@KSA Shark © (Comment 13) : I’m preparing to prove some support 😆 Stay away molly!!!

@rferguson (Comment 21) : Well done , and THAT pass was probably not forward 😉 ….But that is JUSTRUGBY and I hope you enjoy the game. 😀
@rferguson (Comment 21) :
For those of you who don’t know. rferguson is The Punters.
Well Done the Punters well played.
@rferguson (Comment 21) : man alive that is going to be awesome! you must be feeling on top of the world right now. We’ve got to stuff the Lions!!!
@rferguson (Comment 21) : congrats, Richard. Well deserved. Hope to see more of you round here 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 27) : I’ll definitly pop in more often, especially after inspecting the rules and seeing that tie breaker was the amount of comments posted on here.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 28) : he he… let’s just say there would have been a lot of disappointed people had the Cheetahs won 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 29) : 😆 😆
@robdylan (Comment 29) :
All they gotta do is read the rules, let’s hope they check them for changes before the CC comp. 😛
Congrats Mr Ferguson. Man was I swearing at the ref for that call. Glad you countered that with your words of encouragement. An amazing prize to have won.
You would, no doubt, have had some competition from me if I had remembered to have made at least one selection.
Damn Lions!!!! 👿
I demand a rematch!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 28) : Thats what I was banking on!
Well done Fergie!
