South African Under 20 coach Eric Sauls has named his lineup to face France in a must-win clash at the IRB Junior World Championship in Japan this Saturday. Sauls has made nine changes to the side that thumped Italy by 60 points in midweek.
Skipper Rob Ebersohn will be at outside centre, with his brother Sias continuing at fullback. The balance of the three-quarter line belongs to the Bulls with wingers Gerhardt van den Heever (who played some Super 14 rugby this season) and Sampie Mastriet in the starting lineup, together with inside centre Francois Brummer.
Sharks scrumhalf Ross Cronjé has been retained, along with his unrelated namesake Lionel at flyhalf.
In the pack, Free State tighthead Coenie Oosthuizen will partner the Sharks’ hooker Kyle Cooper and Bulls prop Morné Mellet in the front row. There’s another Shark in the second row, with Jandré Marais locking down next to David Bullbring of the Lions. In the loose forwards, WP flanker Rynhardt Elstadt is back from his one-match suspension and will join up with Bulls players Tendayi Chikukwa and CJ Stander.
Julian Redelinghuys and Kene Okafor will both play off the bench, completing a strong Sharks contingent to the side.

Off to Swaziland inbetween the 1st and 2nd test.

@wpw (Comment 17) :
Baby Boks 43 – 27 France.
After being 0 – 20 down after 25min and still 3 – 20 behind when the hooter went for half time.
Try after the halftime hooter and then the French forgot to pitch for the 2nd half.
@rekinek (Comment 14) :
Hey, I see you have made the top 20 commentors list. 😎
@KSA Shark © (Comment 21) : Royals? You mean Southern Kings?
@robdylan (Comment 24) : You looking for a flyhalf for the Sharks, look no further than Lionel Cronje, he is at Free state Uni and looks really good, get your cheque book out at the Sharks and get him down there as soon as possible, this boy has class written all over him!! Plus he went to the best school in SA, Queens College 😆
@Whindy (Comment 25) : thanks for the tip! I’ll pass it on 🙂

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Seems that, even overseas, the Watsons’ reputation precedes them.
Ah, Stephen Jones
Dude, please don’t tell me you take him seriously… He IS Britian’s version of our very own JJ Harmse.
@wpw (Comment 28) : I don’t care who he is….sticking it to the Watsons in international press is fantastic.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 21) : that sound hectic
have fun ❗
it would be so funny if the Royals are the only provincial team to beat Lions. From what I gather they have quite a number of guys who played in NH – that may come surprisingly handy.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 23) : 😎
Who is this Kene Okafor? He sounds VERY Nigerian:-)
@Whindy (Comment 25) : @robdylan (Comment 26) :
And then we can officially change to the Cronje Sharks…
I haven’t seen the Baby Bokke in action…hoping to catch the England game.
@JustPlainSHARK (Comment 32) :
South African of Nigerian origin 😛
@blackshark (Comment 33) : it would be a bit weird if he had a scrumhalf and TWO flyhalves all called Cronje…
@robdylan (Comment 35) :
That wouldn’t work, we would have to convert one of the flyhalves to a centre.
@Salmonoid (Comment 36) : correct. I’d go with Cronje…
@JustPlainSHARK (Comment 32) :
Kearsney boy 😉
@Villie (Comment 38) : hey, that’s Brad’s alma mater!
@blackshark (Comment 33) : They look very very decent, did well to come back from 20 – 0 down to give a hiding.
@Claytie (Comment 40) : the big challenge is going to be the Aussies… theire team is packed with Super 14 stars
