Monty Dumond will start at flyhalf for the Sharks against the Lions in Joburg this weekend, with both other goal-kicking options, Rory Kockott and Juan Hernández, ruled out through injury. Deon Carstens, Jannie du Plessis and Odwa Ndungane all make their return to the side.
Carstens comes straight into the starting lineup in his preferred loose-head prop position, but due to the last-minute haggling with SARU over du Plessis’s availability, the doctor will be on the bench this week. Wiehahn Herbst and Dale Chadwick drop out of the squad as Pat Cilliers once again starts at tighthead, after filling in for Carstens on the other side of teh scrum against the Leopards.
The only other changes to the pack are rotational, with Jacques Botes and Craig Burden back in the starting lineup, with Keegan Daniel and Skipper Badenhorst relegated to the bench.
Charl McLeod will again be at scrumhalf and Odwa Ndungane is back at right wing, meaning that Chris Jordaan drops out. The rest of the backline is unchanged from the Leopards game. The Cronjé twins are both on the bench, together with Waylon Murray, who will hopefully be considered for a starting spot in the near future.

You just need to substitute experience and guile for out-and-out pace. I just don’t feel that Odwa has really been giving his all this season, though.
