Boland Cavaliers coach Deon Davids has selected five Western Province players in his team for the Currie Cup match against the Sharks at Wellington on Friday.
Rugby365 reports that all five players are on loan from their neighbouring union.
The Province players that should strengthen the Wellington outfit are centre PJ Vermeulen, No.8 Zandré Jordaan, flank Hilton Lobberts and lock George Earl.
When he was at Western Province, Lobberts was used mostly as a lock, but he should blossom in his rightful position on the flank.
He is a fiery and aggressive player – and probably just what the Cavaliers need at this stage.
In another surprise Carel Hoffman was dropped from the side that lost to the Leopards last weekend.
He was by far the Boland’s best player in their 16-50 defeat.
Boland: 15 Llewellyn Adonis, 14 Deon Scholtz, 13 PJ Vermeulen, 12 Hein Myburgh, 11 Cornal Hendricks/Alvin Hugo, 10 Elgar Watts, 9 Charlie King, 8 Zandré Jordaan, 7 Hilton Lobberts, 6 Wendal Wehr, 5 Rito Hlungwane, 4 George Earl, 3 Jané du Toit, 2 Clemen Lewis (captain), 1 Janro van Niekerk.
Replacements: 16 Harry Vermaas, 17 Johan Roets, 18 Nico Esterhuyse, 19 Carel Hoffman, 20 Denzil Willemse, 21 Ernie Kruger, 22 Justin Peach.
Date: Friday, September 4
Venue: Boland Stadium, Wellington
Kick-off: 15.30 (13.30 GMT)
Referee: Peter Allen (Scotland)
Assistant referees: Matt Kemp, Eugenia Daniels

Go Boland!!! 😈
Strange, last year WP (with SWD) kicked up a hell of a stink when the Cheetahs loaned players to Griffons…
Now they doing the same to help a sinking Boland ship???
Wonder if that would have happened if Boland beat them!
@Morné (Comment 2) :
I think it has more to do with WP wanting Boland to take points off their rivals like the Sharks, Bulls, Lions and Cheetahs!!
Isn’t there a rule in place about players playing for one team and then swapping to another, as far as I know none of these players have worn the hoops this year, maybe Lobberts.
@wpw (Comment 3) :
Not just that, a Boland in the premier division is of more use to the Stormers than if they were in the first division.
Why is this match played on a Friday afternoon?
And why the Scottish ref?
Cape Town – In a late development Western Province have called back Springbok flank Hilton Lobberts from the Boland Cavaliers for their Currie Cup match against the Blue Bulls at Newlands on Saturday.
Lobberts was on loan to Boland and was picked at the side of the scrum when the Cavaliers team was released on Wednesday.
However, Province have now decided to call him back due to “lock problems”.
Lobberts’s place will be taken by Carel Hoffman, who was Boland’s best player in their 50-16 defeat against the Leopards last weekend.
and there’s a chick touch judge too!
@robdylan (Comment 8) : thats maybe why they are not showing it on tv 😆
@willa (Comment 9) :
Whatchit!! 😈
@willa (Comment 9) : ya – just now she’s better than the rest of the lot
You know! They need to educate this chic referee.
Everyone knows a woman’s place is in the kitchen!! 😈
