Xerox Lions hooker Hans van Dyk has been cited for allegedly biting Vodacom Western Province flanker Francois Louw on the forearm during the first half of an Absa Currie Cup Premier Division match in Johannesburg on Saturday.
www.sport24.co.za
Van Dyk was cited by commissioner, Attorney Mr Andy Prior of Durban, after reviewing video and other evidence.
Van Dyk is currently on leave and out of the country. A date for the hearing will be set on his return.

ON LEAVE:?:
I saw a photo of the Lions players celebrating their victory against WP.
One would swear they just won the Currie Cup.
Bunch of losers!!! 🙄
@wpw (Comment 2) : checks the scoreboard. Only one team of losers at Ellis Park on Saturday… the ones wearing blue 🙂
@wpw (Comment 2) : Sour grapes???
@robdylan (Comment 3) : @Me2 aka Mama Shark (Comment 4) :
Their season was a failure!! They celebrated as if they won the damn tourney!!
No sour grapes at all!!! 😉
@wpw (Comment 5) :
Your team will last one week longer…yippee doo!
@walter van Lions World (Comment 6) : Hey man..long time no speak…you must be very proud of the way your guys are coming back 😆
Geez, so many WP haters. Where did they all come from? Is this how Blue Bull supporters feel?
@walter van Lions World (Comment 6) : Geez, from what I learnt last year, missing out on the semi’s is a sin and an embarrassment, did that change since its your team?
@walter van Lions World (Comment 6) :
One week and millions of rond in gate takings!!!
@Me2 aka Mama Shark (Comment 7) :
Not too proud, it’s our worst season since 1998 in the Currie Cup, but we did show some promise in the last 2 matches. Always nice to klap the Bergbokke when they think they can just show up to collect 5 points…they didn’t even stay for the press conference…LOL!
@wpw (Comment 2) : the one with clever boy and mineral water looking like champagne ? cool pic 😎
@wpw (Comment 10) :
Cool! Enjoy it as it doesn’t happen too often these days with your team..LOL!
@walter van Lions World (Comment 11) : I still admire their “come back” (had me worried during our game against them ) …and those Bergbokke realy were a bit over confident 😆
@molly (Comment 9) : it’s about expectations and quality of the team – WP are a better team so you expect them in semis and if they lose …hm. this year nobody expected anything from lions so having them actually win something let’s celebrate.
@walter van Lions World (Comment 11) :
Dude, thats what happens when you need to prepare for an NB match… not that you guys would know much about that!!! 😉
@wpw (Comment 2) :
I predicted these sort of responses last week. 😆
Lions are spoilsports, losers, negative rugby players etc. 😆
@rekinek (Comment 15) : We all knew that WP v Lions was going to be a tough game for us, Lions have been our Achilles heel for the last few years. I honestly don’t think they went in there over confident. Possibly the try withing 2 minutes made them think they over estimated the Lions. It’s either that, or Andries Bekker being the worst forward EVER!
@rekinek (Comment 12) :
Thats the one!! 🙄
@wpw (Comment 5) :
There is not a WHOLE lot of difference between Sour grapes and being Dikbek. 😆
@wpw (Comment 10) :
That Money will come in handy for the pensioners playing for WP who need it. 😛
I declare this pick on WPW day!
Weeping Province last made the semis in 2006, so it’s understandable that you guys are excited…three years is a long wait.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 17) : Lions deserved to win. The penalties we gave away 1 after another after another after another was shocking.
If by spoilsports you mean, they spoilt WP party, then yes I agree… bunch of boxes 😉
@KSA Shark © (Comment 17) :
The same thing happened during last year’s S14 when we missed out in our last match against them.
At the final whistle, their players jumped in the air with clenched fists as if they’d won a trophy!!
Didn’t they finish last in 2008??? 😯
Ek hoor die Curriebeker gaan WP toe….Weer Pretoria toe…LOL!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 21) :
Which pensioners??? 🙄
We cleaned up our act dude… No AJ Venter or Percy…
Btw, Albert must be close to your age by now of hoe???
@molly (Comment 18) : i have mixed feelings about Bekker – he can sparkle sth but is he really getting down and doing the hardwork.
I don’t think that WP was overconfident either, but Lions are very physical and can be very committed on defense. Let me stress CAN (not always happen). and earl the pearl was good last two outings so there was no player 23 for the opposition
@rekinek (Comment 27) : He definitely can offer someting on attack, but he’s never heard of grunt work in his life. Is it a coincidence that we concede alot of penalties at scrum time at the same time Bekker makes a return?
I can not believe they subbed Anton instead of Bekker, what a joke.
@rekinek (Comment 27) : And the Lions can DEF be a good team, its consistancy thats their problem, they usually don’t pull two good performances out in a row. Sounds an awful lot like WP.
How about we focus on what this thug did to an opposition player??
If found guilty he should be banned for a considerable amount of matches!!
@molly (Comment 28) :
The penalty count in the match was 6-10…3-3 in the first half and 3-7 in the second…I guess the four more that WP conceded in the 2nd half did make a bit of a difference
@wpw (Comment 30) :
As jy met ‘n Leeu se bal speel kan jy verwag dat jou arm afgebyt gaan word…
Seriously though, foul play has got no place in rugby, and I don’t want players that bite to represent the Lions.
@walter van Lions World (Comment 31) : It felt like the count was much worse, I actually had to stop watching because I was getting so annoyed.
@walter van Lions World (Comment 32) :
I hear what you saying… that is why I don’t like Schalk Burger… he always seems to be involved in dirty play!!!
Whats up Molly, no hate mail for Joe Pietersen this week. Beware Andries Bekker, Molly has got your number.
When it comes to Lions and WP its more than just a game – its a statement for the WP to leave their underhanded tactics of trying to steal their players.
@molly (Comment 29) : that’s why i was surprised by the score. i thought WP would win but without BP. Looked to me as the game against the Sharks was their final.
Seems like the Lions have some respect for Stefan Terreblanche, he asked them to do their thing against WP in his after match interview the week before, (when we played the Lions)
@Salmonoid (Comment 36) : i though it was players playing not management
@Salmonoid (Comment 35) : I have to admit, Pietersen has improved alot, his kickings quite good (except the one sitter) and his defence… he actually makes tackles. I’ve been impressed.
@Salmonoid (Comment 38) : in the past lions did sharks some favours – didn’t they win or denied a BP to some team so that the sharks topped the S14 log in 2007. (I guess though not such a good memory of this campaigne)
I can’t wait for Fondse to be back so Bekker can be relegated to the bench and become an “impact” player. I think he hit 1 ruck the whole match, fell off about 3 tackles (2 of which led to tries, although Alberts is kinda a big guy).
Mols
Do you have an idea when Koster might be back from injury??
Seeing as you have a pic of him holding you close… 😈
@rekinek (Comment 39) :
Management pay their salaries.
@molly (Comment 42) :
I doubt they’ll drop Bekker that easily!!! 😐
@rekinek (Comment 41) :
I dont remember that, I think last year the Lions managed to keep the Stormers / WP out of both S14 and CC semifinals in the last game of the group phases.
@wpw (Comment 43) : Um, unfortunately not, when I last saw him he said he was still out for 6 months, and that was… at a wine festival… and my memory is a little fuzzy from that day. I think it was around April-ish.
@Salmonoid (Comment 46) : I remember WP giving Bulls a luverly winning margin to keep Sharks out of the semi’s one year, I think that was the 74-15 (or whatever that score was) game, that was a good couple years ago.
@molly (Comment 47) :
Btw, congrats on that Loerie Award!!! 😎
@molly (Comment 48) :
Nah, wasn’t it the following year – 39-3 to the Bulls??
Rob and KSA Shark wouldn’t let me forget that one easily!! 🙁
@Salmonoid (Comment 46) : yip – WP needed bonus point win in both and the Lions although last denied BPs.
its pretty much same scenario with a bit of variation this year
@wpw (Comment 50) : I can’t remember either, I’ve tried to block it out.
@wpw (Comment 49) : oh, thanks. This Loerie thing is apparently well recognised 😉
@molly (Comment 53) :
Now seeing as you have some design expertise, hows about assisting Robbo with that dull Sharksworld logo/whatch-uma-call-it. 😈
Just add a few Stormers logos in the background to spruce it up!! 😎
@molly (Comment 42) : why do you think we want him so badly?
Hans van Dyk was cleared today of biting in the Lions WP game.
Superrugby:
Van Dyk, who pleaded not guilty and was represented at the hearing by Marius Botha, was cited for allegedly biting Western Province flanker Francois Louw during a Currie Cup Premier Division match played at Coca-Cola Park earlier this month.
Typical Western Province. He probably bit himself to get the poor guy sent off to try and win the game. 😆
@mbayshark (Comment 58) :
SHURRUP!!!
Morning!
I see Jaco vd Westhuyzen is back with the bulls…. 🙄
@GI Ice (Bulletproof) (Comment 60) : I thought he was going to the Southern Kings
😳 Apologies, Good Morning
@Whindy (Comment 62) :
Morning!
Apparently signed with teh Bulls untill 2012…
@GI Ice (Bulletproof) (Comment 63) : Very interesting, wonder what happened to Cheeky Watsons Offer, I think I would go with the Bulls given a choice. haha
