A fourth Bulls players has gone down and adds to the Pretoria side’s mounting injury toll ahead of their opening Super 14 game, against the Cheetahs next month. Utility back Francois Hougaard injured his knee at training and is touch-and-go to be fit in time.
The Bulls have already lost the services of Bakkies Botha, Chilliboy Rallepelle and Akona Ndungane for the opening rounds, with Wynand Olivier apparently also carrying a niggle, which is expected to heal in time. Hougaard, a junior scrumhalf who has recently spent more time on the wing, will be missed as the Bulls are short of experience out wide. Bryan Habana’s off-season move to the Stormers has contributed to a dearth of experienced wingers, with Ndungane’s broken leg only exacerbating the problem.
Youngster Gerhard van den Heever will no doubt fill one of the wing slots after a strong season in 2009, but it’s anybody’s guess who the other jersey will go to in Hougaard’s absence. Perhaps veteran John Mametsa may be handed one more opportunity to show his worth at Super 14 level.

Shame.
I didn’t realise the situation was so bad for them. They literally have NO wingers outside of Shadow, Akona and Mametsa. Tiger Mangweni and Hougaard are the only other options
@robdylan (Comment 2) : I am sure their junior ranks must have a few fellows to through intot he fire
And now they might lose the daisy and the “blue” of blue bulls too….
@Ice Ka-ching! (Kry jou gat in rat!) (Comment 4) : Just rename them the Balls
@Worcestershire Sauce (Comment 5) :
they already have the memorabilia.. π
@Ice Ka-ching! (Kry jou gat in rat!) (Comment 6) : π
@Worcestershire Sauce (Comment 3) : yeah – they have all the baby Bok wingers… Clayton Blommetjies, Sampie Mastriet, Oompile Seabela
Shame, couldn`t happen to a more deserving team hehehehe
@Ice Ka-ching! (Kry jou gat in rat!) (Comment 4) : Why?
@McLovin (Comment 10) : Just checked it out on Keo. Some okes lekker hot under the collar. π
Ludicrous should select Hougaard as reserve scrummie ahead of Adams when he returns. He has a wicked pass and is definitely one for the future.
Adams can then move to the Cheetahs!! π
my new year’s resolution is to be far more balanced in my commentary when it comes to the Bulls
@robdylan (Comment 13) :
you are brave…or stupid…sterkte! π
@robdylan (Comment 13) : Jeez keep the bias against the Bulls and try be more levelheaded about loving your own team π
@Ice Ka-ching! (Kry jou gat in rat!) (Comment 14) : well, let’s see how long it lasts π
@Worcestershire Sauce (Comment 15) : he he… good advice, I guess π
@robdylan (Comment 17) : π Fans are all the same – i am no better
@robdylan (Comment 13) : A few minutes on Voldy should cure you from that.
@MysticShark (Comment 19) : isn’t rugby-talk the new home of the blind Bulls massive?
@MysticShark (Comment 19) : Sheeesh those Tshwanites take it personally
If the Bulls should lose their colours, which I doubt will happen, what will they say… My Bloed Is….(erens tussen roadkill en n runny stomach). Anyways I dont really care about the Bulls’ woes, the Sharks injuries concerns me more.
I am trying, in my mind, to separate between the bulls team and the bulls supporters π
@robdylan (Comment 23) : I also find that excerise very hard π
@robdylan (Comment 20) : Havn’t seen that site before. Yeah, I notice a lot of the posters there has the word “blou” in their name.
@robdylan (Comment 20) :
also a lot of the WTR crowd
I vote for the Pink outfit like the Western Force wore once last year hehehe
I vote for the Pink outfit like the Western Force wore once last year hehehe
@Ice Ka-ching! (Kry jou gat in rat!) (Comment 26) : ja… rugby-talk and wetalkrugby seem to have some admins in common. I’m not sure why WTR doesn’t reflect the Lions in the name, though. It’s like they can’t get past hte words “rugby” and “talk” π
