John and the boys – and especially Ruan – well done on another superb win!
Victories don’t come much sweeter than that – looking down and out with a few minutes to go and up steps the man of the moment to land an amazing match-winner. Ruan – you are back and the best scrummie in the land this week, no doubt. Congrats, meneer and enjoy it.
It’s been a tough tour, Sharks and it started pretty badly for sure. The resolve and team spirit shown over the last two weeks in New Zealand have been amazing to watch. Have a safe flight home and we can’t wait to see you carry on the good work in Durban.
Plum – good one, mate. If you can get the team to play like that every week, then I hope you DO stay with the Sharks for many years to come.

me still happy eeeaaahhhh and it feels great well done guys
WHOOWOO! Nail biter. Said it here last week already. Ruan is getting his confidence back. BOYTJIE!
Yes. great win although cost me a bit of nerves. And Ruan absolutely excellent . who says he hasn,t BMT? I was watching sky – Justin Marshall and Brat Barrit in studio were signing praise of Ruan after the first half.
Ruan needs to be left at 9 & I’m sure we’ll see plenty more performances like today.
@tedanica (Comment 3) : are you new to our family
Now all what Sharks need is to clone Ruan to cover both 9 and 10 and find Fransie’s double for a line breaker ( maybe this one from “that picture” would be good 😉
@Chaz (Comment 5) :
Yes. it’s nice place to be here.
@tedanica (Comment 7) : it is and welcome to our family its great to be a shark and win like we did today don’t you think
What was the overall performance of the team like? I was not able to watch the game so can’t comment.
@Farlington (Comment 9) : just great so proud of our team what a great win and lambie Raun and JP and rest had a great game
Well done guys, today I’ll be walking around with my head up high and my chest out
Sharks forever ❗
@Farlington (Comment 9) : And you say that out loud? 😆
@JarsonX (Comment 11) : yes for ever and ever and all the way to semi
@FireTheLooser (Comment 12) : I owe, I owe, so of the work I go!! Yeah it sucks but at least I’ll be a home next week.
@FireTheLooser (Comment 12) : 😆 give the guy a break 😆
chaz, youre not part of the family yet… your adoption papers havent come through yet!
@Rahul (Comment 16) : Must of got lost somewhere between sa and abroad i guess eeeehhhh 🙁
@Rahul (Comment 16) : and one more thing eeehhh
and am family of the sharks world eeeaaahhhh
😉
me a big Shark
Congrats guys!! I too missed the game. Just got back from shopping… 🙄
😎 😎
Only two guys in the bar watching the rugby while the rest were watching the NRL. The other was a Kiwi. He didn’t like my smile afterwards.
@wpw (Comment 19) : whipped! 🙂
Woohoo. Congrats to our Guys!
Of course this is the one trip from the tour that wasn’t televised here.
@wpw (Comment 19) : you missed one hell of a game
and no shit both sharks teams won eeeeaahhh
Brilliant – I thoroughly enjoyed that. Pienaar was outstanding at 9 but we’re playing with Goode carrying an injury.
Lambie is going to be a very impressive player very soon.
am I correct to say this is the first Sharks win in Wellington? Either way, well done boys!! @Chaz (Comment 24) : yes a very good weekend for Sharks fans
@Flashman (Comment 25) : i reckon lambie is already an impressive player 😉
Yes a fantastic win for our boys. Ruan playing some great rugby and Lambie is already a magnificent player. Only 19 years of age, I am impressed. How Plum kept Lambie out is a mystery. Just shows what a injury can do, gives someone a chance to show what he has got. Lambie has plenty of that. Going to be great. Let us now not mess him about either. Keep him at FB.
John was superb again at Loosehead.
Great win and hoping we can do it again next week at the Tank.
Do wish after such a long tour the players could be getting their bye now.
Let us support them. Everyone in Durbs no excuse get to the Tank next week and support the Sharks.
Go Sharks.
@Puma (Comment 28) : Sharks getting their bye after the Reds game?…..should have had it this coming weekend, hope the boys has enough gas to see the Reds off.
❗ ❗ ❗ GO SHARKS ❗ ❗ ❗
Great win and excellent play by the whole team.
Special mention to Lambie though: the kid fields high balls brilliantly, and did anyone notice how superb his kick & chases are – not the usual lottery stuff we have become used to.
With all due respect, Stefan should not be starting next week, and until he learns to keep the ball in hand more, maybe Mvovo should be on the bench.
@JarsonX (Comment 11) : Agreed whole heartedly!!!
Fantastic win, had my nerves a bit on edge, but I never lost hope, Sharks are now showing everyone that they WILL win, even though their confidence was knocked due to all those wrong calls, we should actually have more than 2 wins behind us, but nothing can change what was done unfortunately.
GO SHARKS !!!
@Charlie (Comment 33) : Any news about Adie’s shoulder??
Adi shoulder seems to be serious, hoping he can still ring in his 100th Super Rugby game 😉
I’m so proud of you Sharkies!!!!
@Charlie (Comment 35) :
That’s not good news….it really looked sore on the TV…. come on Adie..get better quickly!!!
He looked in a lot of pain on TV, and is not just the type of player leaving the field if he get’s injured 😉
@Charlie (Comment 38) : Give him my best wishes when you speak to him! He’s a special guy!!
Ok will do, Sharks arriving Sunday night in Durban 😉
@war1 (Comment 26) :
100% corect, we have beaten the Canes at home before but in places like New Plymouth and palmerston North but this IS the 1st time in Wellington. 😎
SHARKS ROCK!!!!!!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 41) : KSA, hopefully you are still around. Thought the game was brilliant, and thought the officials in the last two matches have been excellent.
There is one question I had for you, Garth Wright was very adamant that Bissie should not have been penalized for obstruction on the kickoff. This goes along with Jannie being called for the same thing in the last lineout against the Waratahs. Garth was very adamant in both instances that they should not have been called, but I see it differently and would love your input. It seems to me that in both instances, Bissie and Jannie came around the player receiving the ball so they were between the player and opposition. Wright’s argument was that it was a maul so no obstruction, I don’t see it that way, two players on the same team in contact with the ball does not make a maul, you need an opposition player in contact as well. I see it no different to a truck and trailer in that the maul has not yet formed, so even though they are in contact, by coming around in front of the player they obstruct the opposition. It seems to me that they would have to allow an opposition player to come into contact with the ball receiver, and then they could work their body around in front of the player. So in my opinion, the ref got it right both times, and Garth Wright is wrong. What is your take? ❓ ❓ ❓
@Dancing Bear (Comment 42) :
I sat in the bar giggling at how stupid I thought Wright was. I think Bismarck was in front of the other Shark before he caught the ball so then he was offside, but also agree with your thought that no maul was formed so the opposition can come from anywhere which is what the Canes did.
Someone (a ref guru on 365 or SA rugby refs somewhere) mentioned that the Jannie incident was correct in being penalised, and I agree from the explanation of the situation. I didn’t see it so not entirely sure though.
Yesterday Wright WAS wrong though.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 43) : Thanks, I think the Jannie situation was similar. Jannie, while lifting the receiver, stepped around in front of him, before anyone from the opposition had made contact with the ball carrier. Once again, there was no maul formed because nobody from the opposition was in contact with either Jannie or the ball carrier. Of course, we should never have been at that lineout anyway, as we should have been awarded the penalty try.
I was also quite surprised how often Tialata put his hand down on the ground and then bound inside Smit’s arm. Didn’t get caught once though as the ref seemed to be on the other side of the scrum when he did it. Was surprised the Assistant Ref didn’t call it, since it was so obvious.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 45) :
That almost wound me up as much as it did for Tialata getting constant blood treatment. 🙁 But then we used the FR substitute law to our advantage when we needed John back on.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 46) : Taking Smit off in the first place was stupid, without Muller, we absolutely needed his leadership on the pitch. Should have pulled Jannie when he wanted to bring on Beast.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 47) : Eish…the more I think about it, the more I wonder why Plum would make such a call.
I know Smit needs some rest, but unfortunately we are woefully short of leaders in the Sharks pack. Once you get past Smit and Muller, I suppose Botes is next, but he just seems far too quiet to bring a team together at the critical time of a match.
Speaking of Botes, I thought he played one of his best games in a couple years yesterday. All over the field. I think the new interpretations help him since he never was a fetcher type open sider. He makes a lot of tackles but never seemed to make a lot of turnovers. With the new interpretations, he is excelling again, making tackles all over the field and running superb support lines.
Slightly off subject but you have to ask yourself why the Canes announced that Cooper will not be their coach next year. I think they were undefeated before that and have lost everything since then.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 49) :
Stefan should take over as Capt when John goes off is Muller is not available, he did damn well as CC Captain.
Mexted made me chuckle when he kept refering to Kockott as Pienaar after Kockott came on for good and moved to 9.
Especially that one kick that went dead in the Canes area and we came back for a scrum. 😆
@KSA Shark © (Comment 51) : That’s fine KSA, but if your captain is going to be a wing or fullback, you MUST have a leader of note in the pack, maybe not as captain, but you need someone to keep the pack together, and Stefan is not going to get in the middle of the forwards a cajole them into a superior scrum performance. You need a pack leader for that, and unfortunately once you get past Smit and Muller, we have nobody in the Sharks pack.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 52) : Did you notice that when Pienaar was at 9, there was rarely a ruck where we did not have a scrumhalf there to clear the ball. As soon as Kockott came on, there were several rucks that someone else needed to clear the ball from the base.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 50) :
Just checked. the Canes were 3/3 and are now 3/7. STUPID call from their management to announce the new coach 3 weeks into the season. 😳
@KSA Shark © (Comment 50) : I always wonder why a franchise would make that announcement during the season. Just doesn’t seem to be an upside.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 54) :
I didn’t take note of that. I DID notice FDP in the Bulls game though looking at the ref while appealing some kak and then missing the ball coming out. 😕
@Dancing Bear (Comment 56) :
Look is a coach is 0/7 or something similar then I see no problem, but when you are 3/3 and then make the announcement? 😯
@KSA Shark © (Comment 57) : I think that Kockott is one of those players that is a superb rugby player, but does not necessarily do the basics of his position very well. Bissie is a player like that in my opinion.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 58) : If you’re 0/7 replace the coach immediately, but I see no upside to announcing a future (next season) coaching change, if you’re not going to replace the coach immediately.
Alright, I am off to bed, finally get to stop these ridiculous Friday nights, staying up until 6 am on Saturday morning to watch the Sharks. 😆 Cheers KSA. 🙂
@Dancing Bear (Comment 49) : I agree Botes tackled his heart out. Must admit I thought all the Big Boys were tackling our trying to put in some BIG hits. DuP Bros however appear to give away far too many penalties. Jannie DuP never seems to try move after making a tackle I was amused to see Tialata penalised for a similar offence, but then remembered he isn’t a qualified DOCTOR. Not too sure if I would want to get a diagnosis from the good Doc???
Well Done Sharks now all you need to do is to put the Reds away this coming weekend. So its probably going to be Tackle Tackle Tackle because the Reds seem to want to play. They need to show Quade Cooper a couple of Handcuffs just to remind him that he is a criminal after all!!!
@Dancing Bear (Comment 61) :
@Me2 aka Mama Shark (Comment 34) : @Charlie (Comment 38) : Just heard Adi’s season is over Its a dislocated shoulder about 8 weeks out So we have to use Murray or oupa as outside centre or even Odwa
congratulations sharks and sharks fans, that was the game of the weekend for me, i missed the 1 st 20 minutes as i had to drop my daughter at the airport. But my goodness that was a superb last 60 minutes.
It is clear that the front row is settled now that you have a proper 3 ….and Smit has handled 1 with aplomb. That platform has seen Ruan grow in confidence, and he certainly has looked the part again at 9.
Lambie continues to impress , and with the experience of Stefan Terblanche and Jpp growing in confidence this is a very different sharks team.
I seriously believe he sharks can now get on a roll and although difficult a possible semi not yet gone. It wouldnt surprise me if sharks dont lose another game.
I am thrilled at the turnaround, the turbo reverse is finally a thing of the past. Plum must not be bullied by anyone to mess with that tighthead position again!
Again, my huge congratulations,the sharks are well and truly back!!
@grant10 (Comment 65) : “Plum must not be bullied by anyone”
Just as long as he doesn’t listen to all those fans who 2 weeks ago were questioning his ability to coach the blind school U13D team.
2 wins and the sharks are the defacto champions. I’m thrilled, but let’s see how things are going.
And before anyone criticises me, I am not one who was calling for Plum’s head when we were losing so I have stuck to my guns the whole time.
@Baldrick (Comment 66) : no stress, we’ll just find something else to criticise you about 🙂
@grant10 (Comment 65) : hahahaha. So Grant on Wenesday night you said to me that Sharks were a 2nd rate team while speaking to me on keo 🙄 Have you changed your mind now? You seem to change your mind from week to week what say. Also you said that Smit and Ruan are both quota players and PdV should not select them, and that Ruan just sulks too much? Have you changed your mind now? You only said that a week back on keo.
Sharks have showed you up hey!! 😛 😆 So pleased to see you ARE wrong again. 😛
@grant10 (Comment 65) : Actually, John and Ruan have showed you up big time. 😉 Both are playing brilliant rugga. 😀
Thanks for the congrats though. You had no choice did you? 😉
@Puma (Comment 69) : don’t shout too loud, the sharks are playing the reds this week and they will be sending you crashing back down to earth! The sharks are playing like a second-rate team. The hurricanes lost to the cheetah, what does that tell you? And the sharks needed a last minute penalty to salvage a win…did you see the celebrations? That was desperation boytjie 😀
@Puma (Comment 69) : puma…..the sharks with Smit at 3 and Ruan at 10 are a 2nd rate team…..no doubts at all…..5 losses in a row show that.
However , as i have said for over a year now, relieve smit of the 3 jersey and play ruan where he is happy at 9 and the sharks seem a far better proposition.
But you choose to twist the statements i have made and ridicule me for my contentions, which are being proven 100% correct?
Come on puma….grow a pair you little wally! The sharks front row is far more stable with smit far from the 3 jersey….and ruan looks happy again….that is the difference.
@Baldrick (Comment 66) :
This season could still end up 2 or 3 from 13 very easily…
2 wins, although excellent for the team does not suddenly hide all the issues raised before.
@Puma (Comment 69) lol puma , please dont expect that clown to grow some balls and admit he is wrong
hell he is so self opinionated it grows out his ass
@Baldrick (Comment 66) : Baldrick agreed
The sudden hate for plum and a few others was not good to see,
saddly some of the sharks supporters are proving to be very fickle
Its the same as the Abuse F steyn got at absa stadium , and today we can surely say , if only we still had Steyn
lets not hope the Sharks can continue in this vain , there is a big change in attitude on the park
@Megatron (Comment 70) : you at it again
megatron you just can’t see the sharks wining you are just like some off the bulls supporters 😎
thats just what i said nobody on sharksworld on a sunday afternoon,
don’t blame you 😆
well i’m also going to take the Sunday off
Cheers guys see you 2 morrow
@Megatron (Comment 70) :
2 wins does not mean the problems have been solved.
That said, 2 wins after 5 losses is something to celebrate – you must be really small-minded to begrudge anybody that.
@Baldrick (Comment 66) :
@sharks_lover (Comment 74) :
A bit early to start saying I told you so.
I still have mega doubts about Plumtree as a coach; but that doesn’t mean that I denigrate him as a person.
Th truth is that we still depend heavily on the errors of the opposition and individual brilliance. And I don’t understand why – not with the talent we have.
Right now if I want to enjoy a game of rugby just for rugby’s sake, I tune in to a Bulls or Stormers game, not a Sharks game.
@Big Fish (Comment 79) : you think i begrudge the sharks anything? then you are the small-minded one! i am just pointing out the reality of the situation to a windgat loudmouth like puma who is already taking potshots at other bloggers as if the sharks are on top of the log when they have just scraped through victories against 2 sides recovering from trips from south africa.
Without brad barritt, francois steyn, butch james in the team and with john smit at tighthead, a sulking ruan pienaar at flyhalf, the sharks ARE a 2nd rate team! deal with with it puma
Does anyone else think JP might actually play better at centre then at wing, think it would give him a chance to do a bit more running! With JP there we could shift Mvovo to the wing
The Sharks landed in JHB, welcome back boys !
@Megatron (Comment 80) : Like big fish said, two wins does not mean all is fine in the Sharks camp. And maybe Puma feels just like the players… emotions run high when you don’t get the results you wish for. So let him be so that he can enjoy the victory. Nobody can deny that the S14 is out of reach for the Sharks and I’m sure Puma knows this aswell
O and just by the way… the Canes were the very same side that pushed the Bulls all the way at Loftus and only lost by one point. The only side to do so in a very long time. So don’t make them out as a nothing team.
@Farlington (Comment 83) : read comments 68 & 69 and tell me if that is celebrating a win…either way, he just reflects badly on all you sharks fans…like the louts that were throwing beer mugs at stephen donald at king’s park
@Megatron (Comment 84) : It’s called frustration Mega. After the Sharks season so far you can understand his reaction. So don’t take things so personal.
Edit…….delete 😆
After watching the weekends action i have a dilemma on my hands with LMS.
Blues v Bulls and Sharks v Reds all teams available to pick.
What do i do ?
I surely can pick a winner….the more i think about it, the more i confuse myself !
Guys, please cut out the personal attacks. This is not keo. Thanks
@robdylan (Comment 88) : have you got me some advice Rob …..and don’t try and stitch me up
@robdylan (Comment 88) : Did you watch the Blues in the weekend ?
@Hertford Highlander (Comment 90) : Go with a Blues win.
@robdylan (Comment 88) : Crack that whip boyeeeeeeeee
@FireTheLooser (Comment 91) : I thought they looked good….again !
Absolutely robbed not to win….well can only blame themselves for being lazy.
May not be at Eden Park against the Champions !
@Hertford Highlander (Comment 93) : Did you see the Bulls against the Force……weren’t looking good at all, Blues at home after managing to throw their game away will be unstoppable.
Sharks vs. Reds must be the worst game to call….Sharks on the up, but Reds looking way solid…..not clear at all.
@Hertford Highlander (Comment 90) : can’t say I watched them… really tough to pick a winner there, but surely the Bulls have to lose sometime?
I’m going Stormers this week – not sure if you still have them to pick. From then on, it’s whoever the Cheetahs are playing
@robdylan (Comment 88) : if they start is Rob i’m always ready to volley, better believe that!
@FireTheLooser (Comment 94) : @robdylan (Comment 95) : Understand the Cheetahs logic ….but they have played most of my picks……i am swaying towards the Blues but beating the Bulls is a LMS winning call.
Force will be better again next weak are the Stormers really that good.
I do see Ryan Cross has been suspended….big factor !
Watched Reds….they must go close against the mighty Sharks.
Or are the Sharks the best bet of all ?
A week to do my homework !
Rob are you going to update the Fantasy League tonight
(or should i stop looking and get a life)
….i’m interested to see if you have overtaken me this weekend
…will be a close run thing !
@Megatron (Comment 80) :
“you think i begrudge the sharks anything? then you are the small-minded one!”
Completely fail to follow your logic on that one.
If you care to be objective then you would note that in terms of personnel the Sharks are far from 2nd rate – which is why the coach must offer up his mea culpa for the sub-par performance so far.
A team like the Cheetahs can at least claim to be a bunch of average guys giving it their all – the Sharks have the salaries, perks and structures to ensure success, and so there is a greater accountability for the poor performances.
Then again, your stance against the Sharks hardly appears a purely rugby one.
@Hertford Highlander (Comment 99) : it has been done.
@robdylan (Comment 101) : Cheers mate……some deep analysis now going on !
Have a good week.
@Hertford Highlander (Comment 99) : I’ve had another shocker of a round… way behind you!
@Megatron (Comment 80) : 👿 👿
Good morning Chaz.
Hope you had a good wkend!!!
Well, I suppose you did some celebrating seeing as both Sharks teams won!!
Well done! 😉
@Megatron (Comment 80) : maybe 😳 but so far 🙂 we arn’t and with that stop bring our team down like that its bad sportmanship my friend just 👿 Our sharks team for us is a team that we support that is that and the bottem line its our team and not yours so stop bring us down like that we are proud to be a shark at least of all as long as our sharks fans don’t go and support the saders like you we will be ok 🙂 😉
@Megatron (Comment 80) : And to with that my friend come or may
GO SHARKS GO
Nothing you are any other team can do are say that will make us not say
GO SHARKS GO

But enough of moorning the sharks won and that makes me fell just great

@Chaz (Comment 108) :

@wpw (Comment 109) : Thanks they say if one can anyone would change a life for heaven they would me i think i would also 🙁
@Chaz (Comment 106) :
I suggest you ignore Megatron.
He only ever tries to bate the Sharks supporters on this site which I find ironic seeing as his cousin plays for the Vodacom Cup team. 🙄
Sorry forgot something Welcome back sharks
and alot of work the team has to beat the sharks me won’t be here but me is going to watch the game at a bar
ibn SABI eeeaaahhh
@wpw (Comment 112) : i try to he just gets the best of me 🙁 well his cousin must be a better person than he is i bet 😆
@Chaz (Comment 114) : @Big Fish (Comment 100) : the sharks are a great team, great franchise, great academy, go sharks go!!! 🙄 😀
Yeah right…
@Chaz (Comment 110) : The Waratahs and Chiefs are as close to a definite win you’ll get.
@Megatron (Comment 115) : 😯 😯 what 😉
@Letgo (Comment 116) : i think i must go with tahs 😕
I think i’m getting into thsi SS FL got me 1 and a mp on every game expect the game that lost and that was the cheets game
@Megatron (Comment 115) : Megatron, as we all know, was a Sharks supporter when he was still a Safrican.
Then one day as a kid lurking in the shadows of Kings Park, match program in hand, probably couldn’t manage to get Cabous’ autograph.
Traumatised, young Tron (for that was his name before his delusions of grandeur later in life saw him add the Mega), decided to not be a Sharks supporter anymore.
Sulk.
@rhineshark (Comment 120) : so a back stab in other words hmmmm 😳
@Chaz (Comment 121) : Of the lowest order, it would seem.
