Injury updates

We’ve managed to gain a little bit more insight into the injuries affecting Ryan Kankowski and Guy Cronje.

Despite reports claiming that the Hoff will be out for the rest of the Super 14 as well as the first half of the Tri-Nations, the affable number 8 insists that he will be out for no longer than four weeks. That should bring him back into the frame for the Sharks final two pool games in the Super 14, as well as the play-offs thereafter!

Cronje, on the other hand, is about a month away from being able to play again and is targeting the Currie Cup for his return to the Sharks team.

Both these updates come straight from the players, so you can take them as pretty darn solid. Hope that makes Sharks fans feel a little better 🙂

  • @Greg (Comment 3) : The Lions chances of winning this weekend increased by about 80% with Pearl being left out and because it’s at altitude. 😀

  • @Pokkel (Comment 4) : compare that to the 95% chance that the Lions will end last. Again 🙂

  • @Greg (Comment 11) : and if you’re honestly going to mount a spirited defence based on the fact that you usually finish second or third last, then I just give up 🙂

  • @Pokkel (Comment 8) : i would love lions to win, but this could make them too confident for sharks clash or perhaps quite to the contrary they would bag one win and relaxed thereafter.

  • @rekinek (Comment 15) : Don`t take the Lions game as a given. Remember what happened against the FS ?
Sharks don`t seem to focus on local opposition and FS and Lions only really get up for those . . . makes for an interesting prospect.

  • @Original Pierre (Comment 17) : i know (unfortunately) that’s why too worried about what will happen this to the Lions.

I know that the Sharks will pitch for Bulls games but they are lions and stormers as well still to beat.

  • @rekinek (Comment 18) : Well on paper we should have the edge over the Lions, even if they bench Earl Rose, but then we need to rock up there ready to play.
The Stormers had our number in recent years if I`m not mistaken. They also won the warm up games here in CT earlier this year. Add to this the fact that it`s virtually the top of the log versus us at the bottom and the odds are stacked against us for this one.
Then there`s the Bulls . . at Floptus. I don`t want to be negative here but I can see how this one`s gonna unfold already . . .

  • @Original Pierre (Comment 19) : last S14 we started off by beating Stormers at Newlands. Sharks also won S14 in 2008 plus in 2008 CC we beat them twice . … but …they won 2 CC games in 2009 + warm-ups so they will definately fancy themselves.
