Allister Coetzee has named his side to take on the injury plagued Sharks in a crucial encounter that should have a bearing on the Stormers’ chances of gaining a home semi-final.
Bryan Habana has not recovered from the hip injury he sustained against the Crusaders which means his place will be filled by the promising UCT centre, Tim Whitehead.
Joe Pietersen (who refuses to add me as a Facebook friend) returns to the bench after missing the entire overseas leg due to an injury to his glutes (for the ‘uneddicated’ it means he did hurt his HOL)
Here is the team:
15. Gio Aplon
14. Sireli Naqelevuki
13. Jaque Fourie
12. Juan De Jongh
11. Tim Whitehead
10. Peter Grant

Amazing statement by Van Zyl;
“In terms of the weaknesses of the backline, that’s just something the media tends to harp on about. Our only concern is that we haven’t scored as many tries as we hoped to. Perhaps there is a shortage of depth at present, but that’s certainly not ongoing.”
It seams a pretty good Stormers team – I hope we thrash them though – if our backline can’t run, they can at least nail Aplon with a couple of bombs and lots of pressure – he’s a small guy sooner or later he’ll fumble one π
@MB1810 (Comment 15) :
Hahaha
As if that is gonna happen. Aplon is not a banggat like Earl Rose or Brent Russell… He doesn’t shy away from contact.
@Uli (Comment 7) : He added me.
@robdylan (Comment 9) : with my friends request I put a note about how well he’s been playing and how lucky the Sharks are to have him… π
@wpw (Comment 16) : You’re right, I wouldn’t kick the ball to Aplon, he needs just a little space to find a gap.
kick to Naqelevuki
@Letgo (Comment 20) : just behind him so that he turns (tried and tested by Reds π
@Letgo (Comment 20) : At the beginning of the season I would`ve done the same, but now I`m not so sure. Nagelivuki seem to have find some form . . .
One thing is for sure, if the FS can run straight through us from midfield as a result of a poorly judged kick and non existant defensive line, Aplon would tear us to shreds. Sure it doesn`t take a lot to put him down and luckily he has a tendancy to slip and fall, but if our lumbering forwards ( like Swanepoel ) can`t get a hand on him he won`t be stopped at all . . .
Look for Incredible Schalla to bash it up in mid field all afternoon and Bekker to lurk out wide ready to run over Mvuvo.
Another problem is their driving maul. The Crusers managed to shut this down quite effectively last week. Hopefully our ” brainstrust” ( and please note I use the term very loosely ) had a look at their tactics around this area?
Stormers had the edge in the lineouts last week as well so we can`t afford to kick the ball out. So we can`t run at them, we can`t kick at Aplon and we can`t kick the ball out. Goode`s gonna have to have pinpoint accuracy.
Play the game in their 22, Not Like We Did AGainst The Bulls! Penalties come on average every 3 minutes. We have to make sure we`re in the right part of the field and pile on the pressure. They`ll make mistakes, or get desperate for that bonus point try and do something irresponsible . . . then we can sink our teeth in…
@Original Pierre (Comment 22) :
Very good comment Sir!! π
@wpw (Comment 1) : well me must agree with you anything but the Bull with a win my friend me going with you all the way so get the last S14 cup because to lateeeee for us π₯ so Go Stormerssss
