Congratulations to lostshark and pete69, both of whom win a pair of tickets to see the Sharks take on the Bulls in Durban this weekend.
There were a good few entries this week and we had to exclude some people on the grounds of having won before, as well as entering the competition even though they weren’t able to attend the game. That was silly, by the way, so please go and sit in the corner for five minutes! We eventually had to use Sharksworld points as the decider, so for the winners, participation in the discussions here certainly paid off.
There’s been a fair bit of interest in the answer(s) to the questions (and I suspect a fair bit of discussion amongst yourselves, since a lot of people sent me carbon copies of exactly the same email!), so let’s have a look at what you came up with.
The question was, name two players to have represented both the Sharks and the Bulls at Currie Cup level or higher.
There were some wrong names, including Bakkies Botha (despite coming from Natal, he never played for the Sharks) and Joel Stranksy (who only represented the Bulls at junior level).
Here are some of the right ones, although I’m sure there must be more. Feel free to post any others you can think of.
Wilhelm Steenkamp
Kees Lensing
Gary Botha
Warren Brosnihan
Odwa Ndungane
Robert du Preez
Wynand Claassen
Henry Tromp*
Lance Sherrell
Andre Snyman
Adrian Jacobs
Boeta Wessels
Roland de Marigny
Jaco van der Westhuyzen
*still trying to confirm this. I recall Tromp playing for the Sharks in 94 or so. Am I right?

Did Odwa play at the Bulls same time as his brother?
@Pokkel (Comment 1) : no – the year before
😥 😳
@diablo (Comment 3) : ❓
@Pokkel (Comment 4) : Can’t chat now – spending some time in the naughty corner 🙄
I suspect lostfish actually won’t be able to attend either, on the grounds of being in France…
I cant attend the games in Durbz, but love participating in any competition.
The only people I could think of was Wilhelm Steenkamp and Rocco Jansen which may not have qualified or did he??
@Jarson (Comment 7) : Jansen does not qualify… he only played for us in a friendly
@robdylan (Comment 8) : thats what I figured 😳
I though Jacobs couldve been a Bull at some time, but Jaco vd Westhuizen 😯
Joels dad told me joel played for bulls as sub for naas when he broke a finger nail or something.
didnt Wylie Human represent all of the SA Franchises??
@VanWilder (Comment 12) : oh ja… good point that.
I guess he did
@Jarson (Comment 10) : Jaco is playing fullback for them this weekend, bru. Surely you can’t forget the crossbar stunt?
He made his provincial debut for the Sharks back in 99. Him and John Smit used to live together.
@robdylan (Comment 14) : I meant Jaco playing for us, I know he is a Bull now 😆
@Jarson (Comment 15) : he never did a huge amount for us, that’s for sure
@robdylan (Comment 14) : stalker 😉
@Jarson (Comment 17) : if reading John Smit’s book is stalking, then I’m guilty 🙂
I didn’t even know about the comp? How did I miss that?
@CS (Comment 19) : you need to read Sharksworld EVERY DAY and also follow us on FaceBook and Twitter. 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 18) : A stalker doing research
@robdylan (Comment 20) : I do read everyday (nearly), but it’s the Facebook & Twitter part I definitely don’t do… flip, if work knew how much time I spend on Sharksworld I’d be fired on the spot, let alone the “time-gobblers” of Facebook and Twitter.
@CS (Comment 22) : ha ha 🙂
Glad we’re offering you a distraction of sorts
I thought Johan Ackermann featured for the bulls as well sometime in the distant past? 🙄
@Original Pierre (Comment 24) : If not… maybe he’s still planning to
@Original Pierre (Comment 24) : oh yes – of course. Can’t believe I forgot him
