Mike Rhodes will start at lock for the Sharks against Griquas tonight, after Alistair Hargreaves has been ruled out with injury.
Rhodes, who was down to provide loose forward cover off the bench, is an equally capable second-rower, who will come into the number 5 jersey to make his first start for the Sharks at lock.
Rhodes’s position on the bench will be taken by loose forward Skholiwe Ndlovu, who last featured in the second-round tie against the Blue Bulls.
Revised Sharks team:
15 Dumond, 14 Ndungane, 13 Terblanche (capt), 12 Strauss, 11 Mvovo, 10 Lambie, 9 McLeod, 8 Daniel, 7 Alberts, 6 Botes, 5 Rhodes, 4 Sykes, 3 Herbst, 2 du Plessis, 1 Mtawarira
16 Burden, 17 van Staden, 18 Bresler, 19 Ndlovu, 20 Kockott, 21 Pretorius, 22 Swanepoel

I think I am right in saying he played Natal and SA Schools lock? Anyone confirm?
@Oubaas2009 (Comment 1) : I’m not sure if Rhodes played SA Schools
When I read the headline I thought (HOPED) that AP had done a bum muscle driving to the stadium.
@robdylan (Comment 2) : I’m right. He didn’t
That’s not a bad move, I think Rhodes will do good at lock and Ndlovo is pretty decent cover.
I thought Bresler was the lock cover?
@robdylan (Comment 4) : Yip. Craven week 2005. Heard he played lock at MHS so would think he played lock at Craven week too.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 6) : Would think he covers 4?
How bad is Hargs injured?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 6) : That`s how I understood it as well . ..
Isn`t Rhodes a flanker? 😯
Hmmm should we be less confident now?
At least we have a decent referee again tonight. Hope I don`t regret that statement later on.
@war1 (Comment 9) : just a strain… shouldn’t be out long.
I think they left Bres on the bench simply because Rhodes is more experienced at this level
@robdylan (Comment 11) : So we get both Hargs and Skeate back next weekend for the trip to the haemophiliac hospital?
Losing hargreaves is a blow but rhodes was a pretty good lock 4 da kzn craven week team, was less of a bulldozer and more of an athletic lock den but has bulked up substantially
We still going 2 b way 2 good 4 griquas
@RuckingFun (Comment 14) :
So good that even AP will look good. 👿
I’ve found a new drum. 🙁
Wonder if I should lower my SB expectations . . .
When does the Punt of the Weekend article land?
Friday = Sport Betting !! 🙂
@war1 (Comment 12) : well, I hope so.
Maybe Mostert too 🙂
@Original Log Leader (Comment 16) :
I’m just glad we will have live commentary from the stadium tonight, as SS have decided not to televise the thing.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 15) : i am interested 2 c how AP plays, never been a big fan of him and we def wont need him 4 next year, but interested none the less. It really is a pity supersport are being so krap so wont b able 2 c how he does!
Not good news about hargreaves, he has been living upto his early potential in his last few outings.
In a separate issue, seems the Bulls will also have to change their team for the match against the Pumas this weekend, news is that Bees Roux has been arrested for murder of a policeman.
U’d think the top team vs the 4th team would b worth showing…
@jonnow (Comment 20) : they would, had Bees been in the team to begin with… 🙂
@RuckingFun (Comment 21) : problem is, they decide at the beginning of the season which games they’re going to show. They can’t decide on a week-by-week basis based on what the log happens to look like.
Can’t believe I’m defending Supersport.
@jonnow (Comment 20) : wow u not kidding just read it on news24!
@robdylan (Comment 23) : That’s why they should be broadcasting all the games. Although the chances that the Pumas and the Leopards ever make it into the top 4 is very slim, but we all knew Griquas will push for a spot in the semi’s this year. Their games should not have fallen under the games that won’t be aired, unless they play against the Pumas and Leopards.
It’s because they are only airing two of the games this week and last. The Bulls Griquas game should have been aired.
@robdylan (Comment 23) :
neither can I?? 😯
@robdylan (Comment 23) : seem 2 remember a similar incident last year aswell. Griquas only narrowly missed out on semi’s last year. I can sort of understand if it were a leopares or pumas game although i think all da games should b shown
@KSA Shark © (Comment 18) : Good thing you reminded me! I was set to watch the puma game 😈
Here we go again. Laptop on the left of me . . . lager to the right
@robdylan (Comment 23) : But they sure don`t decide in the beginning of the year what the dstv subscription per month is . . . that is subject to change within a moments notice . . . 👿
@KSA Shark © (Comment 18) : The kinda sorta do the same thing in the states for games… the don’t show the game on tv so the locals will go to the stadium but they show the game outside the so called “black out” area. But it is still televised.
So are there actually cameras at the ground but the game is not being televised or are there no cameras what so ever?
@lostfish (Comment 30) :
There normally are cameras…they show footage on the rugby programmes the following week – even if it was not televised..
@lostfish (Comment 30) : There will be cameras there I’m sure but it isn’t being shown anywhere in SA
@Ice (Comment 31) :
@KSA Shark © (Comment 32) :
Thats a pity because it would be nice to be able to see the game – even a delayed broadcast.
If they have the bandwidth on supersport to show darts and all those other non sports surely they could squeeze in a delayed broadcast of the games.
Not even gonna b able to watch this game!! If it’s a high scoring good game i’m gonna sue [email protected]
@The Sharks Sharkie (Comment 34) :
😆
Richard will confirm for us later, but I’m sure there won’t be cameras there.
SS only has a limited number of the things. That was the excuse they used last year anyway.
@robdylan (Comment 36) :
There HAS to be cameras. You are only allowed TMo decisions in a tournament if ALL games are able to use the technology.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 37) :
Uit die perd se bek!
@Ice (Comment 38) :
The Cameras will probably only cover the in-goal area with ONE camera covering the general field of play.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 39) :
I am MORE than prepared to watch it wit 3 cameras than none at all! 😉
@KSA Shark © (Comment 37) : I didna think of that!
Boots and All said there will be highlights on All Out Rugby on Sunday though…
I also see Prosport Int is congratulating Anton Bresler on his first start for the Sharks in the CC on Twitter? They know something we don’t?
@Oubaas2009 (Comment 43) : like I said there, I doubt it. Busy checking with Anton now anyway
They do have cameras at the game. They played replays of every play at the Puma/Sharks game…and not just from one angle, from every angle you usually see it on tv. That’s why I don’t get why they’re not broadcasting these games at some other point during the weekend if they don’t wanna do it live.
@Letgo (Comment 45) : I mean, they’re already spending all that time and money to record it, why not show it to the viewers, it’s just strange.
@Letgo (Comment 46) : Maybe they haven’t paid SARU to broadcast the games?? I am guessing when they arrange to broadcast the games they pay SARU to broadcast X amount of games. Why don’t SABC come to the party and get some Currie Cup action?
SABC probably isn’t prepared to pay the money for rugby coverage that SS wants them to fork out for it. So they told SS to fork off. And now we’re the ones getting screwed.
