The Sharks under 21 team recorded a fine 85-5 victory over Boland today to open up a four-point lead over the Blue Bulls at the top of the ABSA Under 21 Competition log.
Despite fielding a drastically weakened side, Swys de Bruin’s charges nevertheless handed out a 13-try-to-1 hiding to go with the 100-point victory picked up in the first round. The side have only lost once in 7 starts, against the Bulls, who they will play at Loftus next week.
In a pretty amazing turnout, all three members of the back 3, wingers Quinton Dormehl and Sbu Sithole, as well as fullback Gouws Prinsloo, scored a hat-trick of tries each. The other try-scorers were hooker Kyle Cooper, number 8 Cam Dunlop, Flyhalf Willie du Plessis and centre Howard Mnisi. Du Plessis converted ten of the 13 tries to take his points tally for the season to 82, just three behind the competition’s top points scorer, George Whitehead.
The top try-scorers table is littered with Sharks players too. Mark Richards lies second with 6 scores, while Mnisi is one place further back on 5, along with Tera Mtembu, who didn’t play today.

Well done lads!
