Age group coaches Swys de Bruin and Sean Everitt have named their respective Sharks Under 21 and Under 19 sides to take on their Blue Bull counterparts at Loftus in Pretoria on Saturday leading in to the Absa Currie Cup clash between the senior sides.
Both teams suffered fairly narrow losses in the first round in Durban and will be looking to reverse those results. The Under 19s come off the back of a bye last weekend while the Under 21s registered their second defeat over Boland, their sixth in seven matches – incidentally the Bulls are the only team to have beaten them.
However, four points clear at the top and with a vastly superior strike rate to any other side, The Sharks youngsters are looking in good form right now. Averaging over seven tries scored per match is indicative of their attacking prowess and only 13 conceded is the best record (like their tries scored) in the tournament.
The Sharks Under 21s kick off at 3pm with the Under 19s playing at 5pm and The Sharks taking on the Blue Bulls in the Absa Currie Cup scheduled for 7.15pm.

Hopefully I will get to see these games, doubt it though, we have a pre-match braai tradition, especially at Loftus
Im glad Reinach gets another go..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 2) : yeah, and du plessis. question is, where are the cronjes?
Just an observation: Hannes Snyman starting so this probably means Kyle Cooper will be in the senior match 22
@war1 (Comment 3) : Do you really rate them that highly though? That U21 side is massively impressive. I rate Lindeque should be playing for the U21s week in and week out. I see him and Kyle Cooper as the “next big things” at the Sharks. I guess Cooper’s been excluded for the time being, in case Bissie doesn’t recover in time?
@MerckZ (Comment 5) : I dont, to be honest but I would have expected to at least see them in the 22. Arno van Zyl is also a great centre
I’m also disappointed that there’s no Tera Mthembu in the mix.
war, I share your concern about Bismarck
@robdylan (Comment 7) : tim agaba the bolter? theissinger (spelling?) seems to fallen out of favour as well. the looseforward depth at the sharks is ridiculously good though
@robdylan (Comment 8) : its OK, burden can punish them bulle . . . again
@robdylan (Comment 7) : Talking of people with awesome names, what happened to Barra Mthetwa? He looked very promising (in the loose anyway) at loosehead for the Sharks in last year’s CC. Any idea as to where he vanished to?
@MerckZ (Comment 11) : club rugby
Where did you get that team from for U21??? Check the sharksrugby website
@s.h.a.r.k.s (Comment 13) : bastards changed the side!
ok – we will be updating this.
Sharks site accidentally posted the team lists from the previous game against the Bulls 🙂
@s.h.a.r.k.s (Comment 13) : Haha!
@robdylan (Comment 12) : Thanks Rob, any idea which club? Think he’s still in the Sharks’ plans at all?
That U21 side looks more like what I expected 🙂
@MerckZ (Comment 16) : I think he’s playing for Jaguars, but could be wrong
Go Sharks and Sharks and Sharks 😛
C’mon sharkies lets make it 3 out of 3 4 da weekend!
Don’t know to much of the u19’s, but that u21 side looks like the real deal ❗ If the NRU can hold on to those players, i think Sharks rugby will be healthy for a couple of years 😮
Man oh man, this u21 team is giving me lots of hope! Awesome players in the making..
Go sharkies you can do it this weekend!!
