The Sharks have unveiled the special edition black and pink jerseys that will be worn against the Cheetahs at ABSA Stadium this weekend, as part of the Sharks initiative to raise money for CANSA, the Cancer Association of South Africa.
The jersey is a once-off, limited edition and will be sold to the public in seriously limited numbers (only 110 will be manufactured). As we mentioned a week or so ago, Sharksworld have managed to get our grubby hands on 10 of these jerseys and we will be announcing a number of exciting initiatives during the course of the week (and beyond) that might just allow you to get your hands on one of these babies.
We need to emphasise again that these are serious collector’s items and are sure to be worth their weight in gold to anyone serious about the Sharks and rugby memorabilia. While we intend to hang onto a jersey or two to hand out as competition prizes in the future, the major goal behind buying so many of them is to try and start our own initiative to raise some additional money for CANSA, so we’re going to be looking at auctioning a few of these puppies off to the highest bidder, with anything we make over and above the cost price going straight into the Association’s coffers.
In the meantime, for those of you who fancy the chance of winning a signed jersey, straight from the Sharks, be sure to enter their SMS competition, the details of which are below.

That looks awesome..
I WANT ONE!!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) : bit different shade of pink than yours hey? 😉
you can just buy a regular one and wash it with your new red undies… 😉 just kidding, i want one too…. 🙂
i have already sms`d my donation… and i xtand a chance of winning a jersey! great!
@VanWilder (Comment 3) : you mean a signed limited edition jersey 😆
I just know if I were to win this Jersey Flasher girl would claim it immediately! Hope they have small sizes.
@VanWilder (Comment 2) : you will get your chance, even if you don’t win the signed one.
It’s not going to come cheap, though, so start saving up 🙂
@VanWilder (Comment 3) : me 2!
Looks cool! I need one!
@bo0m (Comment 8) : be sure to check back in over the next few days for your chance to own one!
I cant afford a new jersey right now, but I can afford a couple of smse 🙂
I need one!
I wish I could send an SMS from a foreign country. 🙁
Kette’s mom is just going to have to trust that I will give the SMS money back to her when I see her. 😛
Man that would look nice with the rest of the Sharks jerseys over my bar!
Howzit guys…new here…grew tired of rugby365 and their ridiculous comments section, where it’s never about rugby…and then found sharksworld 😉
Go die Haai!
Welcome AlienArmy
I’m sure you will find it fun here, we talk rugby most the time.. Hehe..
haha, no doubt…I’ve been reading the comments for a week or so, and nobody has had their mother insulted, so it’s already better than ‘365 😉
@AlienArmy (Comment 15) : As long as your name isn’t Willem!
@Baldrick…aaahhh, somebody knows my pain! Yeah, it’s better if Willem and myself never crosses paths outside of n pc screen!
Welcome AA! U will find a few non rugby related convo here 2, compliments of yours truly. 😆
@Pink Ice… 🙂 I’m 100% fine with that, don’t mind it all…like I said, what I grew tired of on 365 was the constant insults flying around, wasn’t fun and light hearted as it should be.
Being a Sharks supporter living in Pretoria is challenging enough and if I want to get insulted for supporting the Sharks I can just go to Makro, hehe 😉
@AlienArmy (Comment 13) : Welcome….I just hope willem didn’t follow you here 😉
@Pokkel… 😯 – haha, no no no…he was busy throwing his toys again, and I just quietly backed away, avoided eye contact and slipped out the back door…
@AlienArmy (Comment 19) : rugby365 has some great articles but the comment section is truly terrible. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it here.
@Pokkel (Comment 22) : If you want to reply to a comment just click the grey arrow button next to the persons name and it will come up automatically.
Done, just sms’d my 10 sms to win the jersey
@Pokkel (Comment 23) : aahhh, didn’t see that there…thanks 🙂 yeah, I agree, sometimes the articles are good (sometimes they report on things 2 days late), but the comments section has turned into a “keo” re-run…
@AlienArmy (Comment 25) : welcome here… I’m sure you’ll be very happy
@Pokkel (Comment 23) :
Hoor vir jou nogals. Amper soos n veteraan!!
😉
@AlienArmy (Comment 25) :
Welcome boet. You will definitely enjoy your time here.
A word of caution, there’s a guy on the site called klempie. He loves flirting with the new guys!! 😕 😯
@wpw (Comment 28) :
AA, watch out for Megatron too. He also has dubious inclinations better left in middle earth with the other trolls.
@wpw (Comment 28) : Thanks guys, I have no doubt 🙂
I’ll be sure to keep an eye on them…can’t get my GF to keep me safe, cos try as I may, I just can’t get her to let go of WP 🙂
@AlienArmy (Comment 31) :
Your girlfriend seems VERY wise!!
😉
You should definitely marry her!! 😆
Great inisiative. Our lot at Paarl Gim was hit hard a few weeks back when a 8 year old Dillon Neethling had a breakdown during a rugby match against Eversdal and diagnose with cancer. Sadly the kids dad was diagnoise a few months earlier also with cancer. This family going though some tough times at the moment emotionally and financially and hope them everything of the best. Please jion in his Facebook group and any help and prayer will be much appreciated to help this family get through a tough time.

@wpw (Comment 32) : Funny, she says the same thing…hhhmmmm 😉
I have also sent sms, just because it’s a good cause, not because I want the jersey. If I win, I will auction it off here on SW, proceeds to go back to CANSA!
@Greg (Comment 35) :
Great, thanks Greg! 😀
@Greg (Comment 35) : you’re a king!
@Greg (Comment 35) : Keep the jersey for a while you might just start to like it. 😉
SMS sent
@robdylan (Comment 37) :
MUFASA!!! **shiver** Say it again: “Mufasa!”.. 😆
@Pokkel (Comment 38) : It’s pink, and it says sharks on it, what’s to like ❓ ❓
@Greg (Comment 41) : 😉
@Greg (Comment 41) : Good man ….stick to your team through good and bad times…may the Lions good times be more than the bad from here on….except when they are playing the Sharks of course 😉
@Greg (Comment 41) : greg, any other young guns coming through the ranks at the den that we should be looking out for? i have to say that i quite like the type of rugby you guys are playing at the moment. it will win you alot of fence-sitting supporters in the future.
@VanWilder (Comment 44) : a lot of ex lions supporters seem to be coming back again,long may their revival live ,except against the sharks!!!
Lions need to get rid of their sh*t-for-brains CEO before any long term success can be expected.
@VanWilder (Comment 44) : Not sure that there are any along the lines of Elton, but there are a few who may come through, the supporter base is getting bigger though, funny that, how people follow a winning team 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 46) : they already dropped the deadwood in their first team and you can already see the changes. now for deadwood in top management…
@Pokkel (Comment 43) :
@ruggabugga (Comment 45) :
See you guys on 25/9 ❓
@Greg (Comment 47) : yip, more support = more money = keep the better players = contract good quality players from other unions. at the FNB test i spoke to a guy who knew pretty much all there is to know about the lions (or i think so) and he told me that Jaco Taute is about a done deal to go to the wp/stormers when his deal with the lions end? any truth in that?
@Greg (Comment 49) : i will be there…
@VanWilder (Comment 50) : I heard he was looking seriously at the Bulls
@Greg (Comment 47) : Best Lions supporter ever goes to Jimmy Abbott, took up a 1/4 of the seating area. His custom made lions jersey was the size of a picnic blanket 😎
Latest Cricket News:
India beat Pakistan by 5 wicket next week wednesday in Mumbai.
@blueski palooski (Comment 53) : Didn’t you mean ‘the BIGGEST Lions supporter’ 😆
@Pokkel (Comment 55) : Damn right! His hair colour matched the jersey too!
@robdylan (Comment 52) : would make more sence than going to WP. With Jantjes and Aphlon at the wp, bulls would be a better bet. but as i said, the guy sounded like he knows the lions players well…
@Pokkel (Comment 55) : is wpw the BIGGEST wp supporter then? 😉
@VanWilder (Comment 57) : lots of people claim to have inside info from the Lions camp. The CEO has the biggest mouth in the industry, so maybe they all actually do…
@robdylan (Comment 59) : i found the guy quite interesting. but as you said, you cant trust anyone these days with rumoured info…
@robdylan (Comment 59) : Slowly now, Jaco’s dad is a poster in Walters house and no word of him leaving the Lions.
Lets rather look where the schoolboy talents are heading next year.

Obvious Paarl Gym had a very good side this season and only 3 made the WP Craven Week side meaning the other 12 laaities will end up playing koshuis rugby at Maties, end up priorities and lost to SA Rugby.
How did we lose Howard to WP? A disgrace. But neil jordaan is not coming to durbs… Staying in bloem according to my info
Oh sorry Rob, this is still rumours at this stage and not been signed and sealed. Still like the look of the two midfielsers coming this way, add the Gimmie midfielders and again we look pretty well serve in this department. William Small-Smith is quite a player aswell as Howard.
@VanWilder (Comment 58) : 👿
@robdylan (Comment 68) : damn, not good news regarding Jordaan, quite liked the guy…
@VanWilder (Comment 71) : we did get paul jordaan though . . .
@war1 (Comment 72) : jip, i think he`s the 8th man. but the other jordaan has got something special going. but hey, we dont need centres. weve got the u/19s and u21s coming through.
