Lions fan Natascha Nebe submitted this letter to us, and we thank her for the great feedback!
“Firstly I would like to point out that I am a LION and damn PROUD of it, I even have the tattoo to prove it. But what I experienced Saturday truly made me realize what a great rugby union the Sharks are, and if I wasn’t such an avid LION supporter i would have switched sides easily Saturday.
I heard a lot about ABSA stadium, and how wonderful it is to go there, but not in my wildest dreams did I imagine anything like what I experienced. I expected a lot, but hell I got a lot more than I bargained for.
Firstly I have to say wow to the whole setup of the stadium it is one beautiful stadium, and the staff well they are as friendly as hell and really helpful. The shark cage well that took my breath away, it is amazing how much effort they put into it. I mean you can find anything in there and the prices are reasonable, and in my opinion it is how a sport shop should look like.
And don’t even get me started on the bars they are just as well organized and so sufficient, and really cheap I paid R10.00 for a normal beer and R17.00 for a draught were at Ellis Park you pay R15.00 a beer and well no draughts. The stands are beautiful and really clean, and the fact that you aren’t allowed to smoke on the stands well, that is really nice.
But what I really liked seeing were the stands for the children that, was something new to me. It is amazing how these players interact with these children, and they make each and every one feel so special, and sharkie well he makes it a lot of fun for the little ones as well. When I saw how those little ones ran onto the field after the game meeting there player they looked like cute little ants.
After the game I went with my friend (who is a shark and has the tattoo to prove it) to meet our favourite players, and wow did they surprise me. Some of the players like Stefan just to mention one chatted to the little ones as if he knew them, which most probably they did. And even though the little one already had his autograph on his ball he, singed it again, with a smile. And it was like this with each and every one, and if someone called out to them they would go and chat to them, and they wouldn’t leave until everyone was happy.
Afterwards we went out to get something to drink, now as a lion and a Joburg shark we got a little lost but alas again, friendly service telling us were to go, so on our way to get something to drink I saw something I rarely ever saw, the team parked between the players having a braai and chatting to the supporters about the game.
The vibe outside the stadium was amazing cheetahs and sharks alike, mixed in with a couple of bulls and lions as well having a braai together. Just enjoying the evening air, and not rushing home as at other games, singing and dancing and watching the children playing.
I would just like to say thank you so much for this wonderful experience, I would like to see all our stadiums do half of what the sharks have done with theirs.
To the Sharks Rugby Union keep up the great work and I will definitely be back for another game. Thanks again for making a lost LION feel at home.”

@Jarson (Comment 1) :
Hey.. I’ve got three bet the farm bets in three weeks..
I’ve edited this to make it a little more obvious that Richard himself is not a Lions fan 🙂
For a minute there I thought Rich was coming out the closet as a Lion…
Haha.. Thanx Rob..
I thought it was quite clear that I was a Shark supporter through and through..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 5) : well, I know that 🙂
@Oubaas2009 (Comment 4) : I got that feeling when I first started reading.
@Jarson (Comment 1) : did you read the whooole article Jarson? 😉 The article is a letter from a Lions suporter called Natascha 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 3) : much better now – It looked like Rich was coming out of his closet
@Jarson (Comment 1) : I read and commented on the article before it was edited 😳 🙂
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 2) : Seriously thinking about giving up sportsbetting.
Not one of my bets came through this weekend. . .
You have to be selective and stick to what you know..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 12) :
FFS Ferguson! I am still waiting for you…I am ready to roll, but you are not coming to the party!!! 😈
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 12) : If that`s your recommendation . . . any betting on cheerleaders or models available somewhere?
Cool!…I agree with Natascha Nebe, Kings Park and the Sharks are the best!
@Pink Ice (Comment 13) :
Sorry Ice.. Can’t you roll on with someone else.. I will get to you ASAP..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 16) :
I suppose I do not have much of a c hoice, ne?? 🙄 😉
Who here thinks there will be no changes to the sharks team???
@Pink Ice (Comment 17) :
I will get on it.. you have my promise..
@Letgo (Comment 18) : I don’t think Plum will change much this week but I hope he rests a couple of guys next weekend.
@Letgo (Comment 18) :
I really think that the team will look similar to the team that ran out against the Cheetahs. It would be a step backward if we had to try new things now..
Sharks rugby is truly the best union in SA. 😎
@Letgo (Comment 18) : Well, there will at least be changes to the bench with Rhodes playing club champs. I would go for an unchanged starting lineup with possibly Jannie Doep coming in.
I’m a Shark’s fan who’s never been to the Shark Tank :oops:. At least there are quite a lot of Sharks fans up in Pretoria which makes it more bearable.
@vanmartin (Comment 24) : Where you based bro? I’m in Die Wilgers.
@klempie (Comment 25) : where abouts in die wilgers?
@klempie (Comment 25) : Centurion
