I’m from Newcastle and now living in Pretoria…man I miss Natal…unfortunately I hear the IT industry isn’t that big in Durbs π
We had a boys weekend in Umhlanga recently and watched the Sharks vs Province game…what I weekend! Nothing comes close to the Shark Tank!
@AlienArmy (Comment 20) :
There is no better place than Durbs for a night out.. Especially after the Rugby!
@ruggabugga (Comment 10) : did you go to Northwood? Quite a big Sharks loose forward factory
@AlienArmy (Comment 20) : I also from Newcastle and still here after about 20 years…..do we know each other I wonder?
Hey Richard…you actually look like an accountant π
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 18) : oscars food always good but try scoozi up the road and simply fish for sushi on a [email protected]Richard Ferguson (Comment 19) : moving to mt edgecome ,unfortunatly crime has hit us badly latly,im hoping it will be safer there.
@ruggabugga (Comment 25) :
Scoozi’s is awesome, good food as well.. My Sushi destination is Bamboo Sushi in Umhlanga..
As for your move, its not exactly a far move?! But yeah, it should be safer, and you are still in the area, we should watch a game together sometime or something!
Organise a Sharksworld get together..
@Pokkel (Comment 24) :
Gee thanx Pokkel.. So much for doing free tax returns for all Sharksworld members..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 21) : We mostly stayed around the stadium after the game…I love the party afterwards, have lots of fond memories of late evenings there kicking the ball around when my dad took us to the games.
We were 9 guys…rented a Hyundai H1 “Kombi” and had a coolerbox in there that looked like a fridge that’s been kicked onto it’s side…4 cases of Heineken and 2 cases John Deere’s in there! π
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 27) : π
@AlienArmy (Comment 28) :
The after party has always been a humdinger.. especially ending up at 80’s after midnight.. haha..
Sounds like a good road trip, with good company (read booze)
@Pokkel (Comment 23) : Forgive the question… haven’t been on here for long…do you support the Sharks?
Cos I only know one ‘pokkel’ π
@AlienArmy (Comment 31) : Big Sharks supporter….’Cos I only know one βpokkelβ’ I don’t know whether that is a good statement or a bad statement π― Was the pokkel you knew a nice oke or not? π
@Pokkel (Comment 32) : Haha, nope…lets just say we are not part of the same fan club…he’s a bull supporter…I rest my case π
Anywhoo, going to Newcastle tomorrow actually…playing in a golf comp thingy…but first it’s Jeff Dunham tonight! π
@AlienArmy (Comment 33) : Definately not me then… π
@AlienArmy (Comment 33) :
Enjoy Jeff-ff-ff.. haha..
That guy is brilliant..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 35) : Yeah, cant wait…have had the tickets since June!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 11) :
You are welcome, Rich! π
@Pokkel (Comment 34) :
You must know Reds then…(Rita) β
@Pink Ice (Comment 38) : Doesn’t ring a bell
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 27) : My sister will do mine, thanks anyhow
@Pokkel (Comment 39) :
Is Newcastle big??
@Pink Ice (Comment 41) : Yip…it’s around 800 000 people at the moment if I’m not mistaken…and if the two big townships are included, you’re looking at around 2.2 mil or something like that…
So it’s not small…has a big industrial area
@AlienArmy (Comment 42) :
Sjoe – never realised that! π―
BTW – dont you want to participayte in “meet the blogger” ? If you would be so kind – drop me a mail [email protected] π
@AlienArmy (Comment 42) : I recon it’s more like 80 000 + the 2 townships. Definatley not 800 000. It’s the 4rd biggest town in KZN after the greater Durban area, Pietermaritzburg and Empangeni.
@Pokkel (Comment 44) : I reckon you’re right, my figures dont sound right at all…Maybe my info is slightly wrong or outdated…I’ll count them tomorrow π hehe
It’s not small at least…but yeah, 4th largest sounds right. Hey at least it’s not Ladysmith! haha
Good one Richard.
By the way, don’t mess with the Bluff boys π
@AlienArmy (Comment 45) :
Geeez – and here I thought NC is the NY of SA!!
@Ice (Comment 47) : Haha, no not quite…we’re more a small berry than a big apple…and nothing worth flying into…
Just spoke to my old man in Newcastle, and he’s on the “sakekamer” there – said it’s 500 000+, if you take the townships into account too…
@ruggabugga (Comment 25) : i know oscars β yum yum – and unmistakenly sharks supporters π
@AlienArmy (Comment 48) : Sounds about right…
@Pokkel (Comment 50) : π had to check…have enough reasons to question my own sanity, don’t need another one, hehe
What about Comics burgers? Mmmm…they are LEGENDARY!!!
@Villie (Comment 52) :
Where is that? I havent heard of it..
Extra extra, read all about it……..
http://www.supersport.com/rugby/sa-rugby/news/100923/Smit_commits_to_Sharks
Smit is staying! yay!
@AlienArmy (Comment 54) :
Why would van Zyl confirm that at the Mapoe hearing of all places?!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 55) : To show free state “see, people actually wants to play for us” π hehe
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 53) : Richard, on Northway….next to the KFC. If you live in Durban North, you have to try Comics!
@Villie (Comment 57) :
Thats where Harveys is? Or was..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 58) : Oh heck…don’t tell me it’s closed down. I haven’t been back since Oct last year….so it’s possible!! You’re not meaning Harvey Wallbangers are you?
@Villie (Comment 59) :
Yeah, the Dbn North Harveys got caught with no liquor licence.. Closed their doors..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 12) : Kuswag HoΓ«rskool, nogal! Toti boytjie π

I’m ex Deloitte Durban!
@ruggabugga (Comment 64) :
I vaguely recall the name. I’m a Bluff boy but the missus is a Durban North girl, so I have spent a fair bit of time in Durban North.
@Villie (Comment 67) : a Bluff boy? Ai jinne… π
@Villie (Comment 67) : do you go to pizza boys in bluff?
@rhineshark (Comment 61) :

I will ask and let you know.. lol
