Welcome to the team of the week following Round 13 of the ABSA Currie Cup.
The backline sees a few changes in comparison to last weekend, with the biggest surprise coming in the form of Andre Pretorius wearing the 10 jersey. Hats off, the guy played a great game on Friday night, and his boot is certainly one of the best in the country. Well done Andre! Odwa Ndungane has shown his return to form with consecutive weeks in the team, as well as Francois Hougaard showing he is the best scrumhalf in the country.
Eugene van Staden must be the find of the tournament, or at the very least the frontrower who has shown the most promise. Consecutive representation for him as well, and that after wearing the 3 jersey last weekend and switching to 1 this week. Francois Louw and Jacques Botes come into the flanks after Minnie and Alberts have been dethroned. The van der Merwe coupling gets the nod in the locks.
As you all can see, we now have a sponsor for the Team of the Week, and with a sponsor comes a prize. The competition we will be running will work as follows; at the end of the Currie Cup anybody can enter their team of the Currie Cup. The person that gets their team spot on with the team we select, wins two cases of Windhoek Lager. Thanks must go to Windhoek for their participation.

I was so tempted to put Willem Alberts in just to annoy some WP fans.. Haha
Regarding the competition: Who’s team do we have to get spot on? Windhoek’s, SW’s or yours 😉
I was very worried with the arrival of AP, not because of his talent, but of course the fact he is so injury prone…but boy did he give us something to think about this past weekend…a fit AP is bok quality.
Very deserved entry for him this week, and I hope Plum will give him another go with Lambs at 12. Think that combo can cause some headaches.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) :
GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 👿 😉
it will be interesting to see who makes next weeks team now that most of the boks are be back…
Bulls have just released their team , as expected all available Boks are starting and Victor is captain.
@King Deysel (Comment 6) : I think Griquas is in line for a hiding 🙁
@AlienArmy (Comment 3) : could be a very good backline AP at 10 lambie at 12 jacobs at 13
@Jarson
We are actually discussing it at the moment. We will get a few people on the site together and put a team together that you have to match. Obviously none of us will be in line for the prize.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 9) : 😎
We are in the process of discussing how it will work exactly. Any ideas? We want are thinking that a full 22 man squad must be submitted to us, and the team closest to the team selected to us will be the winner.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 11) : Was wondering whether it would be 15 or 22 players. The idea does sound good so u have my blessing 😛
@AlienArmy (Comment 3) : it actually make sense to start with AP – if he gets injured at least the cover is on the bench – can you imagine otherwise 🙄
but so far so good.
@King Deysel (Comment 6) : that’s no surprise really. Semi-final place not yet secured. It’s quite possible for Lions to run half a century over Pumas.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 11) : nah they must predict it 100% if they miss I’ll take the beer
@Fattmann
I agree, if nobody gets it, we split the beer amongst the panel for all the hard work..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 16) : You may not realise it yet, but I’m part of the panel
Mocho’s emerging team of the Currie Cup
15 Hennie Daniller
14 Lwzi Mvovo
13 Waylon Murray
12 Meyer Bosman
11 Bjorn Basson
10 Patrick Lambie
9 Francois Hougard
8 Ashley Johnson
7 Keegan Daniels
6 Francous Louw
5 Flip van der Merwe
4 Allister Hargreves
3 WP Nel
2 Craig Burden
1 Eugene van Staaden
people should stop smoking tik and think andre pretorious is the bizniz…he is a has-been! But why do i even bother, some here were happy with the putrid andy goode…black & white: that’s all that matters mnxim
I was super impressed with AP as well.
If he can put in a similar performance this weekend then I will be very happy.
I do have question though. Didn’t he just join us for the CC still being contracted to the Force for the coming season?
@Mocho (Comment 18) : Not a bad team. I only have issues with Bosman and Daniller. They have been around to long to be emerging talent IMO.
if it was a true emerging team then I’d go with Viljoen from Griquas at 15. (looks arrogant but is good enough)
Watermeyer from the Bulls would be my center in place of Bosman.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 20) : no, the force have signed willie ripia as flyhalf for next season
@KSA Shark © (Comment 21) : That was like Willem de Waal playing for the Emerging Springboks.
@Mocho (Comment 18) :
FFS.. His name is Keegan Daniel.. Not Daniels.. Jeez..
@KSA Shark © (Comment 20) : I don’t think they want him back after signing him and getting only part of a preseason out of him.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 24) : Relax 🙂
@Jarson (Comment 26) :
It really freaks me out that they can’t get the name right. It’s a Shark website, at least get the Sharks players names correct.
@Jarson (Comment 26) :
Where do we comment on the ITM cup for this week? Shall we do it on last week’s thread?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 27) : Line up an interview with him and introduce him to the bloggers… again. And make it clear in the thread 💡
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 28) : That’s ok I guess, maybe u can make a thread with your picks 😉
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 24) : I just hope you are next to Brosniwhine when he next says it. I hope his ear rings for a week. 🙂
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 27) :
Especially if you are a Sharks supporter!! 😈
