Sharksworld has managed to secure a number of these jerseys and will be using a raffle system to give this one away to one lucky entrant. We bought them off the Sharks at R1 000 a go, of which R200 has already been given to CANSA. We’re going to be donating every cent of every raffle ticket we sell for this jersey straight to CANSA, though.
Did I mention that the jersey has been signed by Patrick Lambie? I didn’t? Oh… well, it has!
A thousand bucks for a replica jersey? That’s a bit steep, isn’t it? Well, yes, I guess it would be if it were any normal jersey. Remember, though, that this is a limited edition item and you’ll be owning something of which there are only 110 in existence. As a keepsake, a rarity, or something simply to display over your bar with pride, this is a must-have item for any Sharks fan. Collectors of rugby memorabilia in general will also want one, knowing that it’s bound to increase in value over the years. Above and beyond all else, though, we’re raising money to fight cancer, a disease which I’m sure has affected many of us in one way or the other. I have lost a grandfather and an uncle to this awful disease just in the last year and am committed to doing whatever I can to improve our understanding of how to fight it – as well as supporting victims of the disease and their families.
So here’s how the raffle is going to work. We’re going to be selling tickets for this raffle at R50 apiece. Each ticket that you buy is essentially a R50 donation to CANSA, which we will make on your behalf. You are welcome to buy more than one ticket, so each additional R50 contribution you make will increase your chance of winning the jersey. In order to keep this reasonably fair, though, we will allocate at most 5 tickets per entrant. You are more than welcome to donate more than R250, of course, but nobody will get more than 5 chances in the draw.
I’m also going to prevent anyone who has already got a jersey through Sharksworld from entering the draw. I know who you all are and you are, of course, welcome to make additional donations. But I want to give this jersey to somebody who doesn’t already have one.
So, it’s gonna work like this. If you want a ticket, send an email to [email protected]. I will reply with my South African banking details (or my PayPal details if you happen to live abroad). The raffle will run until 5pm on Wednesday 13 October, so you’ll need to make sure that I have received payment for your ticket(s) before that time in order to be considered. Once I have all the money collected, I will use a completely random (and fair) process to select a lucky winner, who will get the jersey. Seem simple enough?
The only other condition is that the jersey is in Durban and you’ll need to either make a plan to collect it from there, or pay shipping charges to get it to wherever you want it to be. As I said above, we’re donating the entire proceeds of every single ticket to CANSA, so I’m afraid there’s no spare dosh to pay for delivery. Still, getting a signed jersey worth well over a grand for R50 plus the cost of shipping is a pretty sweet deal.

Tickets bought – please everybody support this good cause, I have an uncle who has just been diagnosed with cancer and CANSA really needs funds. Plus I work for a doctor that specialises in cancer surgery – this cause is very close to my heart.
