So the promotion relegation matches are done and we have clarity on who plays in which division next season.
The Leopards traveled to George with a 15 point buffer margin over the SWD Eagles. The SWD Eagles at one stage lead 32 – 16 giving them enough of a margin by a mere point to take the step up to the Premier Division Currie Cup.
It was not to be as the Leopards showed that they are made from some stern stuff and managed to fight back with two tries (76th & 79th minutes) to lose the game 32 – 28. The losing margin of 4 points was enough to see the Status quo of Leopards in the premier division and SWD Eagles in the 1st Division remain.
Scorers:
Eagles 32
Tries: Henry Grimes, Hans Grobler, Jacques Engelbrecht, Shaun Raubenheimer, Jaco Terblanche.
Conversions: Ambrose Barends (2).
Penalty: Barends.
Leopards 28
Tries: RW Kember, Sarel Marais, Walter Venter.
Conversions: Clayton Durand, Marais.
Penalties: Durand (3).
The Pumas came from behind after trailing 12 – 0 after just 16 minutes and 22 – 15 at half time to win rather comfortably in the end. The final score of 46 – 28 in the Pumas’ favour is a little flattering. They were made to work hard for the victory and it didn’t come easy.
Thus the Pumas and Leopards live to fight another day in the premier division and the EP Kings and SWD Eagles are sent back to the drawing board to see if they can perfect their plans for next season.
Scorers:
Eastern Province Kings 28
Tries: Stevens 2, Gagiano
Cons: Dumond 2
Pens: Dumond 3
Pumas 46
Tries: Le Roux 2, Kruger, Steenkamp, Steyn, Willis
Cons: Bezuidenhout 5
Pens: Bezuidenhout 2

Congratulations to The Leopards
Well done Leopards.
Good stuff leoperds want to see some more rugby at the bafokeng stadium!
@Ben (Comment 3) :
Seems like we’ll be seeing some in PE as well next year.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 4) : yeah it seems we might but this game can go both ways I think!
@Ben (Comment 5) :
It seems like it. Close at the moment
This article is confusing. Are you assuming there’s only one match? The Premier Division sides have NOT as yet been confirmed.
EP needs to win by one point only in order to be promoted to Prem Div.
@Gerhardt (Comment 7) :
It’s only confusing if you don’t bother reading the article and notice the last line.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 9) : lol yes pretty confusing! Haha this games gonna be very close
@Ben (Comment 10) :
From: http://www.sharksworld.co.za/2010/10/29/1st-division-finals/
The current score is
Kings 28 – 29 Pumas
after approximately 60min.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 11) :
And yes I DO know that it is not the 1st Div Finals but that is what I chose to name the thread. 😛
last line reads : The losing margin of 4 points was enough to see the Status quo of Leopards in the premier division and SWD Eagles in the 1st Division remain.
Like I said, the heading was confusing, as it is not the trust at the time
@Gerhardt (Comment 13) : no the last line reads ”Stay Tuned for an update on the EP Kings v Pumas match.”
Like I said, the heading was confusing, as it is not the truth at the time
@Ben (Comment 15) : 🙂
@KSA Shark © (Comment 12) : kings are in trouble and monty is useless!
@Ben (Comment 18) :
One of those two things I didn’t know. 😀
@KSA Shark © (Comment 19) : I wonder which one? 🙂
very frustrating indedd, wud have loved to see top teams play in PE next year. wonder what Cheeky’s tactic will be now? shop, shop, shop
Congratulations to the Pumas joining the Leopards in managing to stay in the premier Div.
Harold verster is the happiest man about this victory. At least now he has another season to breathe before the Kings play premier Div Rugby force his side further down the log
So nothing changes?
@McLovin (Comment 24) :
Nope All stays the same.
wonder what difference zandili stick wud have made
Well done Pumas and Leopards, wouldve loved for the Kings and Eagles to be promoted though.
I am glad the Pumas made it,they deserve it,after beating lions,bulls.
Feel bad for the eagles because they topped the log I think.
Well done to the Pumas and Leopards
