Lambie might be making his Bok-Debut on Saturday

According to news reports, the young Sharks sensation, Pat Lambie might be making his bok debut this weekend.

This following a spell of injuries hitting the newly announced Springbok squad.

Pat and Morne Steyn practiced in the Flyhalf and inside centre comination and was rotated in these two positions yesterday at Hyde Park High.

Ruan Pienaar and Hougaard both practised on Scrumhalf. Willem Alberts is struggling from a calve injury and missed the practice yesterday. It seems Daniel and Stegmann will take a backseat to Kanko, Smith and Spies who were practicing line-outs with Victoria and Windgatbakkies.

I sincerely hope that this (playing Lambie between flyhalf, centre and full back) is not going to turn into a “Francois Steyn Saga”…

Having Said that…I just want to see Pat in the Green and Gold!!! You go, you good thing! 😉

  • Every one that have access to Beeld, see the pictures of Lambie and Jantjies on page 14!! They are KIDS! I had to look twice thinking it was old school pics, then realised its their Springbok training jerseys they have on, and was obviously taken yesterday! 😯

  • Pat can do it but I would have prefered if it happened under a different coach.

  • Jeez, it’s not perfect hey. I’d rather keep him at flyhalf. Does anyone know if Morne Steyn can play inside centre?

Screw that, put Kanko there. Should work worderfully.

  • I can confirm to you guys it is highly unlikely Jean will be fit for Ireland, which leaves us with one fit centre in the squad in Adi.

I expect to see Lambie run out at 12.

  • @Morné (Comment 6) : It’s going to be a long day at the office for the Boks on Saturday. Talk about a baptism of fire for Lambie.
@robdylan (Comment 5) : Crazy I tell you. I can’t believe that Spies would be prefered ahead of Alberts or Kanko at 8. Surely Keegan needs to start now!

  • Scrap that…

    Kak combo.

Sheez we have problems in the loosies…

I can’t see him pick Daniel for his debut test and it would be damn risky to pick Stegmann after so little rugby in the last couple of months…

Neither can I see Alberts starting…

  • @Morné (Comment 6) :

So we are going to have a new centre combination, made up of Adi who is a great centre but has only had 20 minutes in 6 months, and a debutant. Could be interesting.

Is O’Driscoll in the Ireland setup for this clash?

  • If I had to pick a loose trio right now..

    6. Daniel (on form)
    7. Juan Smith (always fantastic and an old head)
    8. Kanko (has shown he can play the tight game)

    Steggman/Spies on the bench

  • I know Lambie would do great wherever he’s picked. I wouldn’t pick him at 15, but either 10 or 12 would be fine. It actually won’t be such a bad thing to start him at 12 for his fist game, but not outside of another youngster in Jantjies. If Lambie has to cover 12 then Morne Steyn should start.

Otherwise Pdiv should bring in Andries Struass to tackle all the Ireland centers of the field like he did with WP.

Any news on who will be replacing January? Or did they just bring Zane in? Surely you should have three scrummy’s on tour?

  • @Letgo (Comment 25) :

Krusty the clown seems to have replaced Januarie, because Adi replaced de Jongh, Steggman replaced Schalk, and then Kirchner came in.

They will probably play Hougie at 9 with Morne at 10 (thats a nice working combination) with Pienaar on the bench to cover the entire backline..

    12 Patrick
13 Adi (O Driscoll is oud, maar hy gaan ADI laat suffer. Ek dink Stefan sou beter wees
    14 Aplon
    15 Pienaar
