“We have also negotiated with Beast and I’m confident he’ll also be running out for us next year,” said Reyneke on the GLRU website

Removed article…don’t have rights…sorry. We can still comment on the situation of course.

Jammer JustRugby, won’t happen again.

  • If Beast does leave…which be really dissapointing after all The Sharks have done for him; i can’t help, but think we might need another experienced prop or our current crop could burn out. 1-smitty and Eugene 3-Jannie and wiehahn…the others are not really ready for this level and we need another prop so that we can have some good rotation to keep the guys fresh…maybe mtetwa is brought back in…i think he is quite solid. Nhlapo and Chadwick still need a CC before i would use them for rotation in superrugby.

  • If he goes to the lions then I really don’t wish him well, one of my favorite players who was made by the sharks, would this mean john smit back to prop? And how does this make pat cilliers feel

  • If we still had patty i would not be too stressed, but we let him go….why!!!???? Can play 1 and 3 and is one of the more mobile props you will find…great for our brand of rugby.

  • If Beast does try to move, I don’t see him playing next year and this after a year where he battled to get back into the Boks due to eligibility. The Sharks won’t release him and as such they won’t sign the transfer docs.

That means a legal battle and after our experience with Mapoe that can be rather protracted. And it’s not as though FS can do the dirty and agree to release him to the Lions this time either.

  • refute that he is in fact bound by a contract adding that his future “might have to be decided

Sorry – for a dutchy like me (refute)- does this means Beast says he is not bounnd by the contract?

  • SARU controls Beast? Askies? Since when did SARU control anything? If we’ve learned one thing from the Mapoe, Alberts, Ludik and Fourie sagas, it’s that SARU (and SARPA for that matter) NEVER get involved in these matters and always tell the unions to resolve it via arbitration and the courts.

  • he has a contract so what now is he staying or going who is there to protect that contract gee a contract is there for one thing to protect the player and the SHARKS so what now 👿

gee just think of it this way if we all as Shark supporters leave and go and support every year the wining team just because they won or it cheaper tickets to go and c the best team win or the players go to play and when they get there , there is no supporters i don’t think they will like it at all well players that are leaving its nt a great feeling for us as supporters to hear the sharks arn’t good enough i will stay a Shark until the end of times its in me blood so what hv the players in there blood all mixed up between which blood type you would like to flow through your vains 👿
now that off my chest 😳
BEAST u must think real hard old champ a good chnge is nt always a good ghange

  • @Ice (Comment 12) :
Thats how it sounds – as if the Lions are repeating what Beast has told them but that its their suggestion (The Lions) that SARU may have to decide on where he plays.

  • The Sharks have been good at finding suitable replacements over the last few months…hopfully they can find another Eugene…which props from SA have been overseas for 2 years+? We should have a look at some of them…i am sure The Sharks will be an inviting option…come play Superugby and give it a last gasp to make the world cup squad.

  • I don’t think you should try keep a player that doesn’t want to be on the team anymore, but if he has a strong contract the player should not try break it specially if he is payed well and was happy before, breaking contracts for no valid reason means some kind of example has to be made so that players dont just do it willy nilly.

  • Well, I must confess, he’ll take a nose dive in my estimations of him – but for R4 million I’m betting he doesn’t give a toss about the Sharks’s coaches and fans who’ve helped make him an icon around the world. He needs to remember that they only chant “Beast” at Twickenham and the Millenium Stadium because we did it at Kings Park first…

    That said, Deon Carstens anyone?
