Griquas might not have won anything for a few years now, but we cannot afford to rule them out of Vodacom Cup glory this year as they have done some interesting back office recruiting.
Griquas have signed three former Springboks into service, that of Ollie le Roux, Anton Leonard and Edrich Lubbe. Le Roux will be their scrum coach, where Leonard will be the forwards coach and Lubbe the kicking coach. Along with recently appointed coach Abré Minnie, a new look coaching staff could make all the difference.
With such a wealth of knowledge, and maybe a Spur sponsorship in the pipeline, things can only go better at Griquas. They are always competitive in the Currie Cup, upsetting a few bigger teams in Kimberley, but are yet to make it to the playoffs. This year could be very different as the Springboks will almost certainly play no part in the Currie Cup, leaving the tournament a bit more evenly poised.
A competitive Griquas team always makes for good viewing, and good rugby is what we all want to see.

The Griquas are using the money they got for Basson wisely I see. Maybe their management team should move to Bloemfontein.

@bergshark (Comment 3) : they haven’t confirmed that yet… but I believe Minnie himself was always going to be the caretaker coach for the Vodacom Cup, with the new guy taking over later in the year.
