Sharksworld has learned, through a source close to the Sharks squad, that JP Pietersen’s knee injury is not as serious as at first thought and that the Bok winger should be able to make his return to the playing field during the second half of the Super Rugby season.

According to our informant, who has a personal relationship with Pietersen, the prognosis looks quite good and the player is expected to be able to play after the Sharks’ bye in round 9. That means he should be in line to return to the team in time for the crunch home game against the Hurricanes over the Easter weekend.

We’ll keep you posted as more information comes to light. This is certainly good news, though, not only for JP, but for the Sharks and Springboks too.

  • “According to our informant”…you make it sound so clandestine, Rob 🙂

  • @Ben (Comment 6) : @bergshark (Comment 7) : I don’t think they will. I’d like to see them get Richards onto the bench for a game or two

  • @robdylan (Comment 8) : Agreed, but JP is just in a different class isn`t he?

  • I am very relieved to hear this, trust this comes to fruition – JPP is class and without him our (tried and trusted) stock looks a little thin out wide. This off period also gives him time for his other niggles to rehabilitate even further (hamstring) – but agree with the sentiments that he mustn’t be rushed – he needs to get his pace back (he was showing signs of) –

    (AND DEYSEL TOO! 😉 )
