Welcome to the third Windhoek Lager Team of the Week for the Super Rugby season. We have decided to make it an all South African team and base it only on the weekend match. So if your favourite player did not play on the weekend, he will not be in the team.
Thanks must go to Windhoek Lager for sponsoring this weekly Team. We will have a Team of the Year competition at the end of the season, so make sure to take note of certain players who consistently make the team.

14. Lionel Mapoe
15. Riaan Viljoen

I still don’t think Mapoe is that great…..not a big loss for the Sharks
Interesting how only 7 of the 15 are capped Boks….
Ok, who voted for the entire Lions team? π
@Pokkel (Comment 1) :
I agree with you, but you have to agree that he was the best on the weekend..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 4) : I can’t really say TBH…..I was watching between the cricket and the rugby so I didn’t give much attention to the Lions Cheetah’s game so I’ll take you word for it.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 4) : Doppies played brilliantly too. You know your avatar is in Joburg this weekend? You going? I’m there on Sunday…
was making it all SA team the only way to sneak some lions in
@SharonvanWyk (Comment 6) :
I wish hey!
I’m going to the Berg this weekend, if it wasn’t planned ages ago I would have been there like a bear!
@Pokkel (Comment 1) : he is quite quick but not physical enough IMO. The only way for him to leave the defender behind is to outrun, haven’t really seen him getting out of tackle.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 4) : he was, considering that bulls did not play, sharks really played about 30min, stormers (better say nothing π π π
@SharonvanWyk (Comment 6) : doppies isn’t too bad really. matured and plays with commitment.
@rekinek (Comment 9) :
Yeah, he doesn’t have that burst that Mvovo has.
I am only watching the Sharks game now, but between a coctail of painkillers and bias the Sharks looks like the TOTW for me! π
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 12) : or JP. I think JP is very strong but often it looks like he does not apply himself 100%. Pity that he got injured becaue looked good against the Force.
I like the front row, a lot better than last week
@rekinek (Comment 14) :
JP is very deceiving..
He was looking in his best form in years when he went down..
@Greg (Comment 15) : Yes 2 Sharks in the front row isn’t bad π
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 16) : yip. it must be very tricky to manage psychologically a player that gets injured often.
@Pokkel (Comment 17) :
Willem Alberts was unlucky to miss out but Francois Louw was one of the standouts for the Stormers. I’d have picked Waylon Murray ahead of Juan de Jongh. Juan had a pretty quiet game in my opinion.
Doppies looks to be the form number 12 in SA at the moment.
@vanmartin (Comment 20) : Strauss isn`t too far behind him.
What happened to the much fancied Stormer mid-field? They`re producing one yawn fest after the other?
@Original Champion (Comment 21) : Agreed, Strauss is playing really well.
Gio Aplon is about the only back interested in trying something. The rest of them are trying there best to be unremarkable.
Who picked this team???
