Pat’s Cupid Arrow silent for 3 weeks

We have just got news that one of the young Star players in SA and more so the Sharks, will be out for 3 weeks following surgery on his finger.Patrick Lambie, the “liefling” of The Tank, picked up a finger injury in the last match against the Chiefs.

“He’s probably going to miss the next three games, he needs a pin put in the finger, if all goes well, he will be back after our bye week,” said Plumtree.

With 74 points, from 2 tries, 11 conversions and 14 penalty kicks, Lambie is currently the leading points scorer in the SupeRugby series.

This will mean that former Blue Bull and Cheetahs player Jacques-Louis Potgieter will get a start in the historical clash against the Crusaders this coming weekend.

“It’s an opportunity for Jacques-Louis, he’s been patient and obviously done a fair bit of training while he hasn’t had a lot of game time, so now’s his time,” said Plumtree.

“Everyone else is okay for training, we will make a decision on JP Pietersen later in week, there’s a possibility he’ll be available”

The Sharks will be leaving on Thursday to Twickenham for the first Super rugby clash outside the southern hemisphere.

From all of us at Sharksworld, we wish Pat a full and speedy recovery – we need you!!

  • Its good to test our depth now..

I have a feeling he will not be available for the Currie Cup if he continues in the current form..

  • Hurry up and get that finger better Pat.

A huge loss I feel. Was really looking forward to seeing him play at Twickers. What a blow for him.

So he should be back after our bye. JLP is a little under-cooked with game time. Hope he steps up.

  • Another question is who is back up to JLP for the next three weeks? Do we put swannie on the bench and use Bosman at flyhalf if Pottie needs a rest?

JLP will be more than capable against Grant and Jantjies. He is going to have his work cut out against Carter.

  • @Danman110 (Comment 15) : The reason we gonna miss Pat. But JLP has been with our team for awhile now, but he is not in the same class as Pat imo. Also has not had enough game time. He will want to take his chances though. Would not have got it any other way. Pat is and will be our first choice fh.

Excited to see our Sharks playing at Twickers. Awesome really. Was against all the travel, still feel the travel might cost us, but heck it is good to know we will be part of history with Saders. First SuperRugby ever to be played in the NH.

    GO SHARKS.

  • @Puma (Comment 16) : The game against the Saders was always going to be very hard with or without the travel. I also saw it could be the most people at a Super game ever so this will be good press in the NH for both teams.

  • @Danman110 (Comment 17) : Agree, the Saders game was going to be our toughest game. Counted that one as a loss on the road. Thought we would have won all the rest. So one never knows really.

Now that it is at Twickers who knows we could win it but have to be at our very best.

Read they have reduced the stadium to a 55 000 seater, but the response has been so good that they might sell another 5000 tickets to make it a 60 000 seater.. Great .. 😎 Bet you they never ever thought at SuperRugby game would attract that amount in England. Also read if it is a success, which it sounds like it is cause you go by the tickets you sell. It could lend it self to other franchises doing the same in future. Having one of their games up there.

You know I am loath in backing the Stormers/WP especially against the Sharks, but where the contest against these two teams were at best 45/55, it is now 50/50 in my opinion even in the Shark tank.

So no setup here, I do not rate JLP at all and add imo Lambie’s influence in this team, and I am actually backing the Stormers to win in Durban – and there you have it on record.

  • JPP possibly back already? Great news for the Sharks and Boks.

Pat is busy playing his way into the Green and Gold 10 jersey – this is unfortunate, but just a pothole on his road to greatness.

JLP is a competitive bugger, and while not as talented, will still give his best. Sadly, that 10, 12, 13 axis is looking totally outclassed, and the Sharks may have to put this down as a learning experience.

  • We definitely have the advantage upfront 1 to 8. I think if Charl does exactly the opposite of what he did against the Chiefs, he’ll outplay Andy Ellis as well. So that gives us advantage from 1 – 9. The BIG ❓ will be @ 10,12,13. Because the back three is pretty much even imo.

This is a blow, but lets see what Potgieter brings.

I would`ve liked to start Potgieter against the Crusers anyway.

Didn`t bargain on this 3 week thing though.

  • I am sure Patrick would be the first to say that he is not the Sharks, but merely an integral part of what makes them truly special. His incredible talent will be sorely missed and I am sure I am not alone in counting the minutes and seconds until he takes to the field in the Black and White once more. But in the meantime, we owe it to him and our team to up our positivity and truly SUPPORT our Sharks, one and all, for this weekend’s momentous clash against the Saders…
To Pat: stay fighting fit and heal well… and just imagine the fun you are going to have setting off every airport security system in the known universe with a superhuman middle finger!
