Welcome to the fifth Windhoek Lager Team of the Week for the Super Rugby season. We have decided to make it an all South African team and base it only on the weekend match. So if your favourite player did not play on the weekend, he will not be in the team.
Thanks must go to Windhoek Lager for sponsoring this weekly Team. We will have a Team of the Year competition at the end of the season, so make sure to take note of certain players who consistently make the team.
[adrotate banner=”47″]
1. Dean Greyling – Had a fantastic game for the Bulls, cornerstone of their scrum
2. Deon Fourie – Scored one forwards and one awesome backline try
3. Brock Harris – Was the front man for the Stormers
4. Bakkies Botha – Purely because he did not get cited after playing the Lions
5. Andries Bekker – Great game for the Stormers, hope he can carry that forward to the Boks
6. Keegan Daniel – Was everywhere on the night.
7. Willem Alberts – Do I have to say anything?
8. Duane Vermeulen – Strong performance, was the best loosie for the Stormers
9. Fourie du Preez – Without him, the Bulls would suck. Oh wait…
10. Peter Grant – Kicked like a machine, was the best flyhalf this weekend by far!
11. Bjorn Basson – Good to see his name pop up on the scoreboard
12. Jean de Villiers – One half of the best centre combination in SA!
13. Jaque Fourie – The other, stronger, better tackling half!
14. Odwa Ndungane – Defence, defence, defence.
15. Gio Aplon – If only our other fullbacks had his pace!

Hehehe nice one Rich!
I agree – Deon Fouries’ try was simply awsome!
Glad to see a Stormers prop finally making the team of the week!! π
@wpw (Comment 2) : He was put in just to keep you happy and stop you from bietsing and moaning… π π
Just glad to see Habananana did not make the list again! Phew! π
@Ice (Comment 3) :
That’s fine.
As long as it doesn’t stop me from eating Im happy!! π π
@wpw (Comment 5) : what fish and chips eish that sounds great now i’m hungry
Richard.
Not sure I agree with Keegan Daniels he may have been every where but his hands let him down. Peter Grant would be a shoe in if the Boks were picked tomorrow, I was worried he would come back from Japan like Jaco vd Westhuisen, and be out of sorts, but wow really looking good!!
I would have chosen all 15 Stormers players, they were so sublime.
@Salmonoid (Comment 8) : ? Serious? Perhaps because they played the Force?? π
ok i’m off for a while got to get my gran kid to the rugby practice start young and might just play for our team one day
I also wouldn’t have picked Daniel, but struggling to think who I WOULD have picked at 6 π
I though Pat Cilliers had a pretty good game for the Lions – just mentioning it, of course. Not saying he should be in the team.
@Salmonoid (Comment 8) :
π―
Who are you and what have you done with Sammy?? π
Speaking of Windhoek, I hope you guys have all visited the awesome http://www.windhoekrfc.co.za site and signed up?
Now watch all these Stormers names disappear after the next round π They do deserve to appear on the list for this week though.
@robdylan (Comment 13) : I have – I have a very very pretty profile picture!!
BTW – thanks for taking up my quizz challenge… π
@wpw (Comment 12) :
No more Sammy Sane…. π
@Ice (Comment 15) : oh oops… it came through when I was VERRRRY busy π
Damn, I hate it when my sharkies aren’t well represented π
@robdylan (Comment 11) :
I battled with the 6 jersey, and we already had enough Stormers in the Team
It was a close call between Brock and Pat.. I felt Brock was better in the scrumming work..
@CapeShark (Comment 18) : With all due respect to Rich – if you take the difficult circumstances and opponents into consideration and the game that was played in the last 60 minutes – I think it might have been a different picture in a few spots! π
It’s easy to “shine” when your opponents are sitting way down on the log! π π
@Ice (Comment 9) : No, because they are playing us this coming weekend. They like nothing more than hearing how good they are, normally to their detriment.
@Salmonoid (Comment 21) : Man with a plan! π
@wpw (Comment 12) : @Ice (Comment 16) : Sammy Sly now. Im going to get Corne Krige to give the Stormers the good news.
O please, so the Stormers gave the Force a hiding at Newlands and now suddenly they are the best thing since sliced bread? The Bulls are utterly crap because they never invested playing time for younger players, more relying on the geriatrics to carry them trough, and now they are suffering because of it. Ludike doesnt have the guts like Plum to make some big changes. And my beloved Sharks were made to look crap by an awesome Saders team, although I am mighty proud of the way they decided not to go lay down and play dead.
@KingRiaan (Comment 24) :
Dude, the guy who put the team of the week together just happens to be a HUGE Sharks supporter!!
Ek sΓ© maar net! π
@KingRiaan (Comment 24) :
uit die perds se bek
@KingRiaan (Comment 24) :
Nah, its think its got more to do with the fact that they are five from five?
well lets just hope its stays 5/5 and not 6/6
and sharks make a 5 /7 π
you still have to go on tour
its going to be a hard game
how was beast overlooked? perhaps becuase there was only 1 scrum during the time he was on?
sharks should play J smit at 2 this weekend alongside beast and van staaden ,van staaden a th??
Imo i would like to see sykes and mostert play together then keep the same loose trio
9.Mcleod
10. Bosman
12. Jacobs
13. ST/JLP(i believe he would be fantastic at 13 ,seen him play here for bulls,only worry is he would have to defend vs JF)
Back 3- Jpp Ndungane Mvovo
So ;
1.Van Staaden
2. J smit
3. Beast
4. Mostert
5. Sykes
6.Daniels
7.Alberts
8. Kankowski
9. Mcleod
10. Bosman
11.Jpp
12.Jacobs
13.ST/JLP
14.Mvovo
15.Ndungane- V dynamic ,v heavy t5 and fast big loosies
dangerous dangerous back 3
good runners in midfield
Alot of change all at once tho may cause issues
@VinChainSaw (Comment 27) : hmmm dude, mighty confident considering they haven’t left the continent. Wait, did i just rhyme?
@Talent (Comment 29) : McCleod’s been given so many chances, he is not repaying the faith Plum has in him. He needs to stop taking those silly blind-side darts. That only works in high school. But at the same time I understand that we can’t chuck that new young scrummy in and expect miracles either.
@CapeShark (Comment 30) :
i’m still waiting for an answer from Vini what happened to the ref that he was going to braai if we win the CC
@CapeShark (Comment 31) : We know what we have in charl ,top class scrummy with the best pass in sa . I think he will battle without pat ,becuase the combination they have formed clicks ,right now he is operating on a prosthetic π ,he will take that extra instant to find his fh which may lead to him braving new options regarding descision making
@Talent (Comment 33) : goodness what has editing done with all the %%%and 20s??
@Talent (Comment 34) : saw matrix code for a second!! π―
@Talent (Comment 35) : Calm down, Neo…
@CapeShark (Comment 31) : I disagree… I think Charl has now had one really poor match, but everybody does from time to time.
@Ice (Comment 36) : π
@robdylan (Comment 37) : I dont think he has been exceptionally poor ,he may have been off as a result of our forwards being bossed for a change
@Talent (Comment 38) : well look – I will never blame a scrummie for fumbling a ball behind a scrum that’s being walked back over him.
I do feel that Charl’s decision-making was well off his best, particularly when it came to kicking. I LIKE the fact that he doesn’t kick the ball, rather giving it to the flyhalf to dictate the play.
@robdylan (Comment 37) : Sure, I see your point. But there are senseless elements of his game, like those darting little runs that always end up with him fumbling or being slung into touch. I also felt his tackling during the Chiefs game was quite poor and allowed them to march it up the middle quite a bit. Overall he’s okay though.
@robdylan (Comment 39) : We seemed to run it a helluva lot from inside our own 22 against the Crusaders. I know it was a game played for the spectators but it was a bit tactically flawed, wouldn’t mind Charl kicking a little more when we’re under our own posts…although that goes for the whole backline…
@CapeShark (Comment 41) : I don’t think his boot is good enough to justify him kicking under any circumstance. Charl’s strengths are his amazing pace and his beautiful pass. He must maximise those as much as possible. His role is to get ball to the flyhalf… that is it.
Want to give the Stormers a ‘Nappy Rash’ this weekend?
Given our problems at centre, play Jacques Botes, Keegan Daniel and Willem Alberts as our Loosies.
Play Ryan Kankowski at Centre – 13 in place of Beth.
It may not work out great technically, but hell it would be worth watching the panic on the Stormers faces!
We will nevertheless still win – just added entertainment value on the day!
@robdylan (Comment 42) : Fair enough. Let’s hope then that Meyer does better with the ball than JLP. Not too sure about that guy.
@Panache (Comment 43) : So you want two schoolboy-sized loosies to front up to the Stormers? Put down the good pipe, my friend.
kanko at 13 ,playing with fire .This is a team with plenty of depth in all positions , why not try my above suggested 10 12 13
IMO back three and midfield need to be changed
@Talent (Comment 46) : Jacobs must play. Stef and Jacque-Louis can toss a coin in the changeroom π
@Panache (Comment 43) : who’s Beth?
@CapeShark (Comment 48) : haha agreed ,cant we just sew them together .JLP legs (altho st are bigger) and ST shoulders
I think JLP would shine at 13 ,last year or the year before i saw him play for the bulls at 13 ,he runs on to flat passes v well-we saw him score that awesome try
Can’t wait for Deysel to return, though. Together with Mostert, they’ll add some much needed grunt, even as subs.
true story Jean Deysel ,forgotten talent …atleast by rugby fans. Im sure a few kiwis are still recovering from injuries thanks to the big man
@robdylan (Comment 49) :
These damn fingers of mine.
When ever I think Stef, my fingers type Beth.
They must be trying to tell us something!
@Talent (Comment 51) : and he is a nocely balanced runner with a fair turn of pace.
cheers all oao
@Talent (Comment 53) : dude – there are about 4-5 comments here every day asking when Deysel will be back… he’s definitely not forgotten π
@robdylan (Comment 57) : whens he comming back ? π π π just pullin ur leg mate hehehehe
@sharks_lover (Comment 58) : ha ha…. let’s just say that if he’s with the Sharks XV this week, nobody’s told me about it. That could be for other reasons, though π
STOOORRRRMMMMEEEERRRRSSSS!!!
Hiyas Sharkslover!
@wpw (Comment 61) : hey wesali… where’ve you been hiding?
@wpw (Comment 61) :
Hiyas Weasel!
