The Crusaders have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their match against the Vodacom Bulls on Saturday after hearing that Dan Carter will not be risked at the weekend. Carter is still struggling with the hamstring injury he sustained in the game against the Sharks.

Matt Berquist will replace Carter in one of three changes from the team that faced the Sharks in Twickenham two weeks ago. Chris Jack comes into the team for Sam Whitelock while the Franks brothers swop positions with Ben getting his turn to start.

Crusaders team:

15 Israel Dagg, 14 Sean Maitland, 13 Robbie Fruean 12 Sonny Bill Williams, 11 Zac Guildford, 10 Matt Berquist, 9 Andy Ellis, 8 Kieran Reid (c), 7 Matt Todd, 6 George Whitelock, 5 Chris Jack, 4 Brad Thorn, 3 Ben Franks, 2 Corey Flynn, 1 Wyatt Crockett

Reserves: Quentin MacDonald, Owen Franks, Luke Romano, Jonathan Poff/Joe Wheeler, Kahn Fotuali’I, Tom Marshall, Adam Whitelock.

  • This only reduces the margin at which the Bulls will lose this one. Berquist is a more than capable FH and with the talent playing arround him he will look good come Saturday…
