Rumour has it that new Brumbies coach Jake White has already earmarked a player or two to bring in ahead of the 2012 Super Rugby season, which will be White’s first Super Rugby season.
The player first on the coach’s wishlist is that of ex-Sharks scrumhalf/flyhalf Ruan Pienaar, whom White has rated all along, once even comparing him to Australian flyhalf Stephen Larkham. Feeling from the Brumbies camp is that they never really replaced George Gregan after his retirement in 2007.
Pienaar, as we all know, can play almost any position in the backline, and will relish the opportunity to get back into Springbok selection territory.

I think White is going to cause all sorts of k*k in Australia.
Would be very surprised if he went there, would surely be a huge salary cut?
Rob or Richard….can I get a face please? 😀
@Pokkel (Comment 3) : Your alien skin is approved sir 😎
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 4) : Dankie!!
ruan would have to be going there to play 9 only, cause the Brumbies have to’omua, leallifano who are both better 10s than ruan.
In other news… Clyde Rathbone was added to the Brumbies coaching staff
@Gazman (Comment 7) :
Now that’s interesting..
What role?
@Megatron (Comment 6) :
I think that is the plan though..
@Megatron (Comment 6) : that could actually swing poor ruan. at least he wouldn’t have to worry that sooner or later he would have to play flyhalf. Though with his luck the two would be injured in no time
read somewhere though that Pienaar vehemently denies.
@rekinek (Comment 11) :
Hmmm.. Maybe just hogwash at the end of the day..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 12) :
I see Al Hargreaves is now writing for sport24

@Richard Ferguson (Comment 8) :
Medical staff – apparently he has first-hand knowledge of every injury known to man.
Was hoping the headline was referring to Oupa. 😳
@rekinek (Comment 11) :
Hey Rekinek, are your parents still here, how did they enjoy their Sharks game?
Skeate is playing for the Sharks XV this weekend because the other 2 don’t qualify!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 8) : Just kidding! It would’ve been funnier if I’d said that Clyde Rathbone was coming out of retirement to captain the Brumbies in 2012!
Surely playing in Aus is not going to get Ruan any closer to Bok selection than playing in Europe. And, surely the salary is much better in Europe. Would not make sense to me, either he stays for the salary, or moves back to SA to get back into the selection mix. Of course this is after the RWC, and if selected for this year’s RWC, Ruan will have two RWCs under his belt, and perhaps Bok selection will not matter all that much to him. But then why take a pay cut?
@Salmonoid (Comment 15) : they loved it! They told me that they did not realised that these games are such a huge “picnic” 😀
they left last week just before the cold hit joburg. So I’m dieting now after all the extra helpings of zurek and pierogi 😉
@rekinek (Comment 19) : You lucky lady, being spoiled by your mothers home cooking. Im very glad they enjoyed themselves
