The Sharks XV travel to Potchefstroom this afternoon to take on the unbeaten Pampas XV in a Vodacom Cup semi final. The match will be broadcast on SuperSport, so if you have the time, please support the boys.
The Sharks team has been dealt a few blows by way of eligibility issues as well as some players being called up to the senior squad. They will have to play even better than when they faced an unbeaten Western Province side at Newlands last week.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish the boys the best of luck, and whatever the result, they made us extremely proud. Go Sharks XV!

we can’t be far away from kick-off now
Go Sharks XV!!
@robdylan (Comment 4) :
Im heading home now to watch..
Ok, so who is updating, those of us that are stuck at work, with scores.
What time does the game begin?
Not to criticise, but these match threads should have the time on.
Pampas 0 – 3 Sharks
3mins
it’s 3-0 to the good guys! Penalty courtesy Gouws Prinsloo
Speckman Try! Great stepping!
Converted
Pam 0 – 10 Sha
7mins
I like.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 11) :
Something Jason Robinsonish about that.
Scrum standing up well to the Argies at the moment.
try Rosco! 10-0
@Big Fish (Comment 14) : he’s an impressive young winger that
Penalty Sharks, Gouws going for goal from the sideline.
Just misses.
12mins
@Big Fish (Comment 14) : Agree. Sharks are dominating everything at this stage.
Pampas on attack 10m out.
@robdylan (Comment 16) :
Wonder how quick he is?
The Cronje’s still don’t impress me – they do the basics well enough, but predictable and nothing special on offer.
Not slating them, just not quite convinced yet.
Sharks get a penalty and Guy takes play to the 10m line.
19mins gone. Kleinhans limping off π Don’t think it’s to serious.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 22) : Back on, ankle heavilly strapped.
This Salmons dude doesn’t inspire as a ref.
Sharks xv scrum looking good. Defense is holding under pressure so far as well.
Sharks enjoying 58% of the possession.
Pampas try in the corner.
Yeah, no direction coming from the halfbacks, and the open-field tackling was woeful.
Well-deserved try Pampas.
@war1 (Comment 25) : I think I jinxed it. Break away by Pampas and after a few sweeping moves their no. 7 scores in the corner.
Conversion over!
Pampas 7 – 10 Sharks
25mins
Only just got home..
TRAFFIC!!!!
Good to see us leading though..
Pampas 10 has a loopy long pass, but he does create the kind of space that our half-backs can’t so far.
Sharks are not really contesting at the breakdown.
Sharks attack stymied..
Good break from Spekman again..
come on sharks!
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 34) :
I think that’s a Sharks trait.
Ref gives a penalty for diving sealing off at the ruck – let’s see if he will be consistent, since Pampas have been doing that a fair bit already.
Shakrs penalty, should be a kick at goal..
Some brave, smart play by Speckman – leaving the line on defence – has saved the Sharks a few times already.
Speckman injured, looks like his shoulder.
Specman looks slightly injured after a big tackle..
Specman coming off with what looks like a collarbone or similar injury..
Kobus de Kock gets a well deserved run..
Penalty attempt hits the bar and bounces back in play..
Pampas counter to the halfway mark..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 43) : bugger…. c’mon Gouwsie!
Great kick! Sharks line out 7m out.
Another Sharks attack stopped by a penalty at the breakdown..
And Pampas gets a penalty π
Pampas warned about their penalties at the breakdown..
Sharks penalty, going at goal from 55m out
Prinsloo is successful!!
Pampas 7 – 13 Sharks XV
38 minutes
Gouws going at goal from 53m out. Over!
7 – 13 Sharks
38mins
afternoon all
you can beat these pampies
eeeaaahhhhhhhhhhh
gee that poor shark must be in alot of pain π
yeeha! Go Gouws Go
Another Sharks penalty attempt on half time
Over!!
Pampas 7 – 16 Sharks XV
HALF TIME
and its over eeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Halftime
Pampas 7 – 16 Sharks
For a tall lad, Adongo is really good at grabbing the ball in the ruck.
9 point lead going into half-time is a nice situation to be in.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 55) :
hi Jarson still going strong in the nrl it looks like you just might win the honours π
@Big Fish (Comment 56) : how’s he playing in general? Well?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 53) : My fingers are a bit slow today π I’ll leave the updates to you.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 59) :
Time for me to go get some dinner anyway..
You can have the updates..
Sharks XV need to make sure they keep focus in the 2nd the Pampas are SUCH a dangerous team on attack. A 9 point lead is good but it would be even better to score 1st in the 2nd half.
@chaz (Comment 57) : Hey, it’s a long competition, things might change a lot
This daylight rule at the breakdown point is getting to both teams and I think this ref is being a bit too whistle friendly. If u strong enough to get up immediately after a tackle before the ruck is formed then you should not get penalized IMO
@war1 (Comment 61) :
Are you watching the game? Would you be able to do the match report?
@robdylan (Comment 58) :
Competing well at the rucks, but 6 does limit his impact on attack and defence.
Would rather play him at 7 or 8 personally.
Watching the IPL, and the Royal Challengers Strength and Fitness coach reckons not only is AB de Villiers the fittest player, but he does a 10.7 second 100m!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 64) : Yeah I’m watching and I’ll do the match report.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 62) : gee youn can say that again i just can’t get up and running π³
will it againnst SB law to let you do me predictions π³
oh my chaz what are you becoming slap chips in Predictions
JOKES guys
@war1 (Comment 66) :
@Big Fish (Comment 65) : I can’t understand why he’s at 6… I’m pretty sure his hands aren’t good enough for 8, but Lambozi has played there in the past.
@chaz (Comment 67) :
@war1 (Comment 66) :
Thanx bro! You are a life saver!!
Pampas penalty
10 – 16
42mins
Skeate is playing well.
This ref is really being whistle friendly at the breakdown.
Pampas 9 try! Almost under the sticks πΏ
Pampas 17 – 16 Sharks
46min
oh my Sharks come on trys are the only thing that is going to let us win
Oh wow, Cronje (9) gets dragged 5 metres by the midget Pampas 9 for a try.
The Sharks XV technique at rucktime, and use of ball is very poor. Poor kicking, guys running up blind alleys and away from support – amateurish really.
Kleinhans down π
Things are not going our way right now.
Sharks are sleeping just not good enough guys come on π
Pampas try in the corner. Poor defence by the Sharks.
It would be nice if the Sharks XV backs also start playing soon
Pampas 22 – 16 Sharks
52mins
Ref is an idiot – when did Adongo leave the ruck?
Rubbish try allowed by the XV there – schoolgirl tackles missed by big forwards.
None of this lot look ready to step into senior rugby any time soon – including Skeate.
We need to get our hands on that ball.
@Big Fish (Comment 84) : I agree, no one impresses at this stage.
@beet (Comment 82) : amen its like shouting at my gran son who has just started to play the game
aaah ceap
π π
Pampas:
Tackles made 31
Missed 3
Sharks:
Tackles made 60
Missed 11
The passing and direction coming from 9 and 10 varies from inaccurate to poorly chosen.
A change at halfback may help, as the Pampas are eating our forwards – we need to use the ball better out wide instead.
Penalty Sharks
22 – 19
60mins
Reinach is on.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 92) : that’s better!
@war1 (Comment 93) : good…. like that boy
well the old saying is its not over until the fat lady has sunk so there is still time maybe it will turn around π
Pampas try! TMO
well that looks like a try :evil
bugger!
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 97) : Given!
Pampas 27 – 19 Sharks
64mins
shit. 27-19
this is going just down hill not good at all come on sharks
Kick is good!
29 – 19
Pampas try! Under the posts.
well guy saved that one but will it help
no it didn’t
shit shit πΏ
Pampas 36 – 19 Sharks
68mins
well its now
Pampas 36
SharksXV 19
69 min
What was Gouws thinking?! That was a gift wrapped try
we gonna win this one? π
Everitt sending all the subs on now. Can we score three tries in nine minutes?
@war1 (Comment 110) : watch Tera go… π
Owen Nkumane is a tool.
A little under 6mins left.
Pampas intercept try!
Pampas 41 – 19 Sharks
76mins
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 115) : f%$%^%$^
@robdylan (Comment 116) : π― π
don’t blame you at all π
Totally outplayed in the 2nd half. Pampas are a very good team.
@war1 (Comment 118) : hope Griquas can beat them in the final
This was really a disappointing performance by the Sharks XV π
41-19 to Pampas 79 mins.
Guess the locks and centres we need will not be coming from this side.
If Swanepoel can’t shine at this level, he probably is not going to revolutionise anything for the senior side.
Well done Pampas – did the basics very well.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 120) : No credit to the opposition?
Mark Richards try in the corner after the hooter. 41-24 with the conversion to come.
Richards in the corner π
FULLTIME
PAMPAS XV 41 – 26 SHARKS
Final score 41-26
Well done Pampas.
Sorry guys
well done Pampas
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 127) :
Jarson have you seen my PSL pool no 1 not bad at all
Pampas were all over us in the 2nd half. I give the Argies a thumbs up for the 4 Nations.
@chaz (Comment 129) : Well done and good luck. π
Always unfortuate when an armchair critic writes off any youngster’s entire future based on one poor team performance. But on the other hand, nice to hear the open-minded opinions
Disappointing, but well done to the sharks for doing good in the comp. Still proud to be a shark.
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 131) :
thanks i am doing well in the other pools i am 1st in 2 of them and 2nd in the other its feel great to do sth right for a change
@franshark (Comment 133)
Sad for the Sahrks XV. π
So tell me when the Pampas XV win the R1,000,000-00 are they going to take the money and run. π
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 136) : miskien as ons g!d kryp sal hulle deel met ons op SW π
here the argie again just to say WELL done pampas, this team diserves this and a lot more, for being there away from home for three months this lads persive 1500 american dollars a month… when they get back home they get 500 for full training… they play because they love this game.
thanks to the great nation of south african we will be abeable to play an honoroble 4 nation, and i say souht africa… no one else… go pampas!!
@[email protected] (Comment 138) :
oh my π³ my friend
welcome to SW
but i think you must go back to your profile and change your screen name otherwise you will get all kind of e-mails
@[email protected] (Comment 138) :
Well done to your team!
They deserve to be in the final of this competition!
A little egg from my side:
1 No 9 and 10 should give direction/stability/vision – not the ball to the opponents. I am sorry to say, but after watching them the whole year, I can’t understand how they can start each and every game. Well nearly all of them.
2 I think Adonga had a great game, at least he tried.
3 No 15 ran alot, but so did Province many years ago. The fullback’s job is to penetrate – meaning creating holes in the defensive line. My friend go straight and never kick short on your on line.
4 I was surprised with De Kock’s pace, chasing down the no11 of the Pampas. Only a meter or 2 further and maybe not a try.
5 To all the injured – hope nothing is too serious and that the recovery will be quick and painless.
6 As a summary (not repeating myself) – forwards fell apart, too little use of the line out wide. Finally what baffles me is the leadership – about 3 or 4 captains during the campaign and no-one stood out when it mattered
@[email protected] (Comment 138) :
Rich is right well done my friend your team did just great π
