Bulls lose their General

The Bulls may have walked away with the points on Saturday night, but they may have lost their General for the next few weeks. Fourie du Preez is likely to miss the match against the Cheetahs this weekend with a knee injury picked up against the Sharks.

The Bulls doctor is suggesting a medial injury, which would rule him out for at least two weeks, but scans later today will confirm the damage.

The Bulls will be forced into a backline shuffle with Francois Hougaard moving back into the scrumhalf position from the wing, leaving the door open for Gerhard van den Heever to take back the flyer jersey. Van den Heever slotted in well at fullback against the Sharks and will surely be considered there in future should all the Bulls wings be fit.

The Bulls face the Cheetahs at Loftus this weekend in what should be a cracking encounter with both teams in great form at the moment, the Cheetahs being on a unprecedented four win streak.

Do you really think he deserved even a penalty against him for that?

  • Law 10.4e , g and i … no handed tackle whilst the player was in the air. Minimum of 2 weeks suspension. Haven’t seen it on tv… Only saw it from the stands and it looked bad at the time.

  • @byron (Comment 9) : If you are referring to the tackle on Mvovo, that should not even have been a penalty. It’s not like Mvovo went up to catch the ball, he jump into it. If you start handing out penalties for that, all players are going to jump just before they get tackled and all tackling will become illegal.

  • Great bravery to play on through the pain barrier – but he cost himself a few extra weeks on the sidelines as a result… Once again losing momentum building up to important schedules (TRI-NATIONS)
