Let me start by quashing the inevitable rumours…. nobody within the Sharks squad payed Ryan Cross to break Lionel Mapoe’s jaw this past weekend. Or rather, nobody will admit to doing so. I guess serendipity works like that sometimes…
Only kidding, of course! It’s time to let bygones be bygones and we’re never really that pleased when a fellow South African gets injured. Or something.
Anyway, the upshot of this development is that Mapoe will miss the rest of the Lions’ tour down under – and probably the rest of the Super Rugby season – with his place in the tour party going to the ever-reliable Michael Killian. The Lions face the Highlanders in Dunedin this weekend in the third match of their tour. They beat the Brumbies in week 1, before going down badly to the Waratahs in Sydney.

It wasn;t someone in the squad, it was Mr Rob himself
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 1) : he he he…. mwuaahaahaa
The lions will do the SA teams a massive favour if they can beat the Highlanders. Unlikely but possible. One can always hope…
I categorically deny the rumour that I was heard shouting: “Skop daai gemors in sy bek!”.
@Big Fish (Comment 4) : Were you in Sydney last week?…quite the traveler you are!
@Pokkel (Comment 5) :
What Sydney and I do is just between her and I, thank you very much.
@Big Fish (Comment 6) : 🙂
@Big Fish (Comment 6) : Sorry to burst your bubble but many people travel through Sydney every day. 🙂 😉
@Ben (Comment 8) : 🙂
Who is Lionel?
@Salmonoid (Comment 10) : Lionel Mapoe? He stole some training gear from us once…
@robdylan (Comment 11) : Nope, the mind is blank… I think its an enforced thing.
@robdylan (Comment 11) : And emptied our pharmacy while he was at it!
@ Salmonoid: The former Cheetahs winger who the Sharks paid a salary even though he was not their player. 😉
Does it ring a bell yet??
@wpw (Comment 14) : your spoon getting itchy? 🙂
