Tonight there is a massive game in Durban as National Club Champions Jonsson College Rovers take on rivals Acer Durban Collegians in a KZN Fidelity Security Premier Division match, where Rovers will look to extend an amazing streak of victories.
Rovers have been unbeaten for 20 months and have only lost 1 match under coach Brad McLeod-Henderson in 44 competitive games since he took over the reigns in April 2009.
This match is being touted as a Currie Cup trial match as 20 of the 22 players that took part in the Vodacom Cup Semi-final for the Sharks XV will be in action tonight, with some amazing clashes to look forward to. Just look at the teams below, we have Ross Cronje facing off against Cobus Reinach, Anton Bresler against Jandre Marais, Chris Micklewood against Wynand Pienaar, and my personal favourite Kobus de Kock vs Gouws Prinsloo at fullback.
To top it off you have Craig Burden, a converted hooker facing off against the highly acclaimed Lambert Groenewald. The talent in these two teams will very likely be involved in the Currie Cup later this year, and are the future Sharks SupeRugby players.
College Rovers will be captained by eighthman Eric Ngoie and the Collegians team will captained from the front row by Robbie Harris. If you are in Durban tonight and you are not sure what to do, try make a plan to come through the Kings Park 10 where kick off will be at 20h00.
Rovers;
1 Dale Chadwick, 2 Jody Jenneker, 3 Sangoni Mxoli, 4 Anton Bresler, 5 Byron Egan, 6 Kosie Haarhof, 7 Craig Burden, 8 Eric Ngoie (Capt), 9 Ross Cronje, 10 Chris Micklewood, 11 Rosco Speckmann, 12 Jerome Pretorius, 13 Luzuko Vulindlu, 14 Jors Dannhauser, 15 Kobus de Kock
Collegians
1 Robbie Harris (Capt), 2 Sean Momberg, 3 Shaun Ruwers, 4 Jandre Marais, 5 Tom Brown, 6 Karl Marx, 7 Lambert Groenewald, 8 Marcell Coetzee, 9 Cobus Reinach, 10 Wynand Pienaar, 11 Kyle Hartley, 12 Heimar Williams, 13 Devon Lailvaux, 14 Quinton Dormehl, 15 Gouws Prinsloo

So lekker to see Mox back in KZN rugby… And at tight head too!
Two top teams here..
Should be a good match..
Nice to see Chris mickelwood back in things. Hope he does well! His pretty versatile and hope he gets noticed by the natal selectors again. Westville Old Boy 😉
@Mocho (Comment 3) : hahahaha you never change 😛
@Poisy (Comment 4) : haha have to back the boys. Chris used to be the school hero back in Westville.
Lol you really miss high school don’t you! What’s your twitter user name?
@Mocho (Comment 5) : Chris was an outstanding SBR player
I think I’ll have to try and get down to the game for the second half.
DHS vs Glenwood tonight at 19h00 – sadly crowd will easily be 20x the size of the club game turnout
@beet (Comment 7) :
SBR?
@beet (Comment 8) :
Any chance of a match report or a summary of that game?
I am going to try post weekend results on Monday..
@beet (Comment 8) : keep in mind most kids are forced to stay and watch by they school 😉
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 9) : sbr-school boy rugby
@Poisy (Comment 12) :
Thank you!! hahaha…
@beet (Comment 7) :
I remember one one year think it was 2004, Kearsey were third in the country, and we came to play your’ll at Kearsney. Most people did not give Westville a chance. Chris kicked us to a win with a few drop goals and our entire school ran on the field your field after the match. Best school match I ever went to.
@Poisy (Comment 6) : lol when u go to a top school like Westville how can you not 😉 search for Mohamed Chohan. Just got twitter last week.
@Mocho (Comment 14) : you kidding iv been tweeting since 2009 sep
@Mocho (Comment 14) : Thanks Mocho. I’m trying to erase those kind of memories from my head. Man it’s been too long since we last beat you guys. I really thought this yr was going to be the one. I blame the crosswind* for our poor performance that day.
*by wider defn crosswind includes Jackson Buthelezi
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 10) : Rich I’d do my best. I already do stuff for another great site that does a super job of promoting SBR nationally. You’re welcome to extract details from it. Everyone else does, incl Tommy B from the local papers.
@beet (Comment 17) :
Care to mail me the details?
[email protected]
@beet (Comment 16) : its the one match we used to love playing. It used to be DHS because they used to break our hearts at every swimming gala. But then they fell of and now its Kearsney. We view your’ll as a similar type of school to Westville, so its means a lot beating the private school so to speak. Kearsney will definitely become one of the best schools in the country in time. They have world class facilities and the resources to.
We used to do heavy fitness training saying Kearsneys name during the week before a match against your’ll. Then on match day go into the zone.
@Mocho (Comment 19) : psychos! 😛
@Poisy (Comment 20) : Shot boet I’m following you as well. Haha as seen above there seems to be a market for school boy rugby on this site 😉
@Mocho (Comment 21) : yup there is hey
Wow…lots of serious quality in these two teams…Club Rugby in KZN is awesome!!
was just wondering seen as tho rovers are national club champs, if they lose out to collegians and end up second will they still qualify for club championship given that they are the reigning champs or would do they have to finish top?
Final Score in this game was Rovers 24 – 23 Collegians
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 25) : How tight!! Any idea how it went? Seems like down to the wire?
@snoestaxi (Comment 26) :
I am not sure..
Will find out and post a match report..
guy it was one of the best club games i have been involved in,IAt was anybodys game but Rovers showed class in the end to score in referees time and to make matters it was a collegians scrum that we won and had 12 phases befores Zuks went in corner to score.with kobus having to conveert fRom touchline to win the game.Kobus definately won his battle with Gouws and Mox was amazing so thats us going back to club champs to defend title
@skull (Comment 28) : Thanks Skull. Good luck for the Championships.
