Jean Deysel has been found guilty of foul play in the game against the Waratahs on Saturday and has been suspended for two weeks.

Deysel was cited for a dangerous tackle on Waratahs centre Tom Carter, for which he received a yellow card. It was ruled that Deysel was in contravention of the law for dangerously tackling an opponent without the ball.

The offence is seen as a lower end offence and Deysel has received the minimum sanction of two weeks.

  • Great news. Now what bewilders me is they say he was cited for the dangerous tackle. What about the head lock?

Why? I think Rhodes was lucky to only get 6 weeks. That move could have killed the oke.

What Rhodes did could have really hurt the player. Not only the headlock but also the way in which he twisted the player..

  • @sharks_lover (Comment 10) : Come on SL……did you see the Rhodes incident? Rhodes tried to paralyze his man…..Deysel just tried to choke him. Choking takes a lot longer than snapping your neck off. 🙄

  • @Ben (Comment 12) : Yeah, difference is Deysel is a shark, your team, Rhodes is from a team that is not your team, so obviously you see it (Deysel’s indiscretion) as a lesser evil.

  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 13) : @Pokkel (Comment 14) : If Siale Piutau didn’t think quickly and turn his body with his head, Rhodes would have snapped his neck clean off. That’s how serious a offence it was imo.

I am not condoning Rhodes, but was it three times as bad as what Deysel did? Not sure about that. Is this the longest ban so far this season? I think so. Is it the worst offence?

  • I didnt see the incident but can hardly go along with that Rhodes tried to break the guys neck as so many are saying. If it was that obvious to viewers and that was his intention then I have no doubt that he would have had a life ban and be up on attempted murder charges.

  • Look, Rhodes screwed up, and Deysel was very luck. I don’t think that one can assume Rhodes wanted to kill the guy – he also has a good record.

In my opinion, as much as I love Deysel, he was lucky to get such a small ban.
