Welcome to the Windhoek Lager Team of the Week for Round 15. We have decided to make it an all South African team and base it only on the weekend matches. So if your favourite player did not play on the weekend, he will not be in the team.
Thanks must go to Windhoek Lager for sponsoring this weekly Team. We will have a Team of the Year competition at the end of the season, so make sure to take note of certain players who consistently make the team.

1.Dean Greyling – Was given a good run for this spot by Coenie Oosthuizen, but the Bulls scrum anchor came out tops.
2. Adriaan Strauss – The Cheetahs captain/hooker has been in great form so far this season, coming into his own over the last few weekends. A close second is Schalk Brits.
3. Werner Kruger – The other half of a dominant Bulls scrum. Tightheads in South Africa are a bit of a rarity and Kruger is making all the right noises.
4. Wikus van Heerden – The best performance from the veteran loosie in the lock position, managed to score the winning try for the Lions. My forward of the weekend!
5. Victor Matfield – The big man is slowly proving his worth again after this position was reserved for a certain Stormer. Bekker had a rough game in the lineouts this weekend, Matfield was just better.
6. Schalk Burger – Great player, great captain. This man can play a bit of rugby. The best moment of the weekend was when he collided heads with Elstadt, Estadt stayed down and Schalk hardly felt it. Legend!
7. Ashley Johnson – Big Fish summed it up perfectly, what a great player and in the form of his life. With the abundance of looseforwards around, one can easily stay under the radar. He is putting a big blip on the radar at the moment.
8. Keegan Daniel – He was the shining light in a rather one dimensional forward pack and loose trio. Injects a stupendous amount of pace to the game and defends like a beast.
9. Sarel Pretorius – The nuggety scrumhalf was at it again this weekend, keeping one of the better up and coming nine’s in the game at bay. He is in a league of his own in South Africa at the moment.
10. Pat Lambie – No Sharksworld Team of the Week would be truly complete without Lambie. But in all honesty, he thoroughly deserves his spot. Scoring 21 points and opening defences, can you imagine what a backline with him and Jean de Villiers/Jacque Fourie/Johan Sadie in it can accomplish.
11. Bjorn Basson – One of the two World Cup wings, and they are both in amazing form at the moment. Seems like I say this every week, but he must be the best player in the air.
12. Wynand Olivier – I am not the greatest fan of Meisiekind, the hair specifically drives me insane and reminds of something from a Vampire movie, but he was pretty good this weekend, fringe and all.
13. Robert Ebersohn – Even though his brother has been receiving most of the recent fame and praise, Robert is still putting in great performances and making name for himself at outside centre.
14. JP Pietersen – It couldn’t really have been anybody else! What a try, what a second half and what vision and class. Back to his best form, and I am sure everybody is looking forward to seeing more of his play.
15. Jaco Taute – The best young fullback around, and I am truly looking forward to seeing him compete at the IRB Junior Championship.

Ja.Good team
Schalk Brits? I didn’t know overseas players are considered?
Doppies le grange was very unlucky.. Ebherson deserved it though.. Doppies maybe should have got atleast a mention.. 😉
Sounds about right.
How good has Adriaan Strauss been lately……by far the best 2 in the country at the moment.
@Mocho (Comment 2) :
He is South African, and I reckon he had such an amazing game over the weekend, it would be a shame to just ignore it..
Schalk Brits?
JPP was massive. I thought the Sharks loosies were very good, to be honest.
Good Team.
I might have gone with Hougaardt over Sarel this week though.
After all the Bulls won and Hougaardt scored the all important bonus point try didn`t he?
@Original Pierre (Comment 7) : Super Sarel deserves his spot. Hougaard was a bit rusty as a scrum-Half. Yes he scored that last try, but was not better a scrum half than Sarel on the day.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 5) : Yes no doubt that he was on fire this past weekend. Do u think there’s a place for him in the Springboks?
no DANIE ROSSOUW!!! 😯 are you serious?
@Mocho (Comment 8) : Hehehe
Think Sarel will get a WC spot above Hougaardt??
Different Subject:
Why did WP agree to loan Pieter Myburg ( spelling? ) to the FS, ( conveniently right before they face us ) but refused outright to help us out with a center earlier this year? 👿
I hope Sharks Management remember this when AC comes knocking on our door for a flyhalf . . .
@Original Pierre (Comment 11) : As far as I understand Whitehead didn’t want to go, don’t go blaming our management. Anyone that can shed light?
@Original Pierre (Comment 11) : He came down from Leicester, that boy never really stepped up.He will always have THAT game against the Crusaders but thats about it.
@Megatron (Comment 10) : Geez, he is in amazing form. He needs to start more, Potgieter can bench warm.
Super Sarel?? 🙄
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 13) : Thanx Claytie, seems the Stormers are innocent after all!
But if Myburgh is already here from Leicester . . . does that mean MJ will start at 13 and we can at last have ST back at fullback this weekend?
@Original Pierre (Comment 16) :
Do you honestly think that putting a guy in who has two days to get used to our game plan and defensive structures will help?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 17) : LOL @ ” defensive structures”
Nah you`re right.
By all means stick with what we`ve got. They brought us this far after all.
Good solid team that! Not many are established Boks which is interesting considering the comp is nearing its business end and you would expect the big guns to be firing. Interestingly no comments on how the Butch James/Doppies Le Grange combo stopped porous midfield defense of the lions and actually got them attacking….i guess week 2 as a combo will tell.
Lekker side and great to see Lambie’s name in the mix. The youngster really performed well this weekend and got the Sharks going. Lets hope he can keep up the good form this weekend against the Cheetahs.
@SheldonK (Comment 19) : Here a little video I found of how James played this weekend.
@Mocho (Comment 21) : Oh Darn, its not working.
