The NZPA reports that Dunedin police are saying little about their investigation into an alleged sexual assault on a female university student, reportedly by a visiting rugby player over the weekend.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis said an update may be released tomorrow but otherwise would not comment on police investigations.
An 18-year-old female student complained she was sexually assaulted in the city early on Sunday morning.
South African Super 15 rugby team the Lions said none of its players were being investigated over the alleged sexual assault.
Western Force chief executive Vern Reid today said the Australian team had no involvement in the alleged incident.
“The team has not been contacted by local authorities and following our own internal enquiries, we are completely satisfied that no member of the club’s touring squad was involved.
“Any suggestion a player from the Western Force was involved is totally inaccurate.”

Could Quade Cooper have been in the close vicinity? 😉
Where did Earl Rose fly out to again?
@Ben (Comment 1) : @Pablo Dinero (Comment 2) : 😉
They said it was a star player on the news, so it’s definitely was not one of the lions players 🙂
It’s good to see that there are not any names flying around causing issues for players.
Good on the NZ Police for keeping this under wraps until it is finalised and a charge is laid or no charge is laid.
Exemplifying the “prudence” part of jurisprudence.
@franshark (Comment 4) : What, is Butch not a star? 😯
@franshark (Comment 4) : Not that many stars in the force either ❓
@Greg (Comment 8) : @SharonvanWyk (Comment 7) : hey its a JOKE!!!!!
well i glad no names it won’t be good for the Lions team at all
