Waratahs flyhalf / inside centre Berrick Barnes has called time on his 2011 Super Rugby season following multiple concussions sustained during the season and after being diagnosed with Footballers’ Migraine.
Barnes had to leave the field of play against the Highlanders following a severe migraine which had him being sick in the background, and has subsequently taken an indefinite leave of absence from the game.
He has not ruled out playing for the Wallabies in the Tri Nations and during the World Cup later this year, but will take things as they come and decide whether his health allows him to play the game at the level that he wants to.
We would like to wish Berrick all the best and that he gets back on the park in no time.

It’s probably best if he stops playing altogether unless he thinks rugby is more important than his health.
I feel for the guy 🙁
That sucks.
Advantage Brumbies?
Thats sad, he has a lot still to offer Oz and his franchise. all the best to him and hope it is’nt long lasting.
Poor guy…Cant they give him a stronger helmet to play with?
Bet willem alberts has this but he soldiers on .
I was hoping it was Wayne Barnes. 🙁
This sucks, can’t even imagine what he will be feeling like. Hope he gets better soon.
@Viking (Comment 6) : Scrum pets don’t help protect the brain, just like headgear does not help boxers brains.
It just prevents superficial damage.
