The Stormers have surprised with their loose forward replacement for Duane Vermeulen with the announcement that Schalk Brits has joined them on loan from Saracens for the semi final against the Crusaders. Although best known for his escapades at hooker, Rassie Erasmus has been a fan of playing Brits at loose forward in the past with mixed results.
There has been talk of calling up an u20 youngster in Siya Kolisi, who has been doing duty for the Baby Boks’ disappointing campaign, where they asked Dawie Theron to release him from the squad early in preparation for the semi’s, so it is somewhat surprising to hear Brits’s name being pulled out of a hat, especially as loose forward cover. Brits does however bring considerable Super Rugby experience with him and comes off a spectacular season with Saracens and has played quite a bit of rugby in the Stormers jersey in the past so will hopefully slot straight back in.

Can’t see the problem with this. Stormers are in dire straits with regards to loose forwards, so much so they have to get a hooker for loosie cover. Can hardly be considered a ‘big gun’ amongst loose forwards.

@franshark (Comment 198) : Yup I saw but that is Season 2? I don’t follow serieses on TV at all. I watch it when I want to watch them, have got 3 Hdd’s with 3 tb’s worth off Serieses and just over 1tb’s worth off movies.
So I watch the stuff when I feel like it. Especially when something gets interesting and you have to wait a week for the next episode. I don’t have too! 😉 😆

Why did the Sharks end up staying over in Sydney for a few days?
I understand that maybe they wantyed to rest a bit and get over a few things, but that said , was there not maybe a bigger force behind it all like a Sanders team who wanted to get to CT as quickly as possible?

@Salmonoid (Comment 209) : honestly, we were playing with a team weaker than our Vodacom Cup team, with Dollie playing in the flyhalf channel, not taking that result too seriously.
The problem with those loosies is that they don’t have any SR experience, they haven’t trained with the SR team at all, which Kolisi had and this is kinda a crunch match.

@molly (Comment 211) : Im only ragging you. Brits could actually be an inspired choice in that he is going to offer something that no one has played against this year. I do think Stormers will miss (big time) the grunt of Vermeulen though.
@Salmonoid (Comment 216) : absolutely, Vermeulen is there for his strength and defence, thats the biggest part of his game and balances out our loose trio well. Koster doesn’t bring an ounce of that, and sadly, Brits is a similar player to Koster, so I really think we’re going to struggle.
