Livewire loose forward ‘Red Hot’ Keegan Daniel has been confirmed as the Sharks’ captain for the upcoming Currie Cup campaign.
John Plumtree announced that he will look to the future by appointing Daniel as the captain, with Stefan Terblanche offering support as vice captain.
This is a great move and we’d like to congratulate Keegs and wish him all the best for the season ahead. I’m sure I can say with certainty that we’re all 100% behind him.

Well done. Brilliant pick!
Excellent selection. Congrats!!
Yes this is great news! Hopefully this means Oupa Stef sees more of the bench this season. Well done Keegs!
I think he probably from a young man persepective brings more calmness to the team..n I’m glad plum looking at new things in the camp..guys btw why didn’t maruis play last weekend?
Logic? Clarity of thought!? Utopian John, is that you??
Well done Keegs!
@Culling Song (Comment 5) : Brew, boetie!! BREW!!!! Its working!
Can anyone please put up a CC and TN Log? Pretty please….?
@shaniboi (Comment 4) : Hopefully this means that we will see our promising youngsters given a run… hopefully! 😀
Really good news! Congrats Keegs!!
Man, this is GREAT news!!!!
Great stuff! Really happy about this. Hargreaves to be the vice captain going forward.
Wow, I am stoked!!!

I see some extended and intensive interviews coming up with Utopia John…
@Culling Song (Comment 17) :

Happy days!
@Ice (Comment 18) :
I hope I get an invite this time although the plugged in toaster does scare me a bit but I’m willing to make the sacrifice!

@klempie (Comment 21) :
Hello Klempie. Hoe gaan dit meneer?
By the way, I’m quite a big Keegan fan, in case someone missed it…
@Culling Song (Comment 23) : you wont say..really, you wont..
Well done Keegan. I always knew that he would be a good choice. Klein botteltjie, groot gif. 😎
@klempie (Comment 21) : Go on, weg is jy, this is the happy thread.
Congrats Keegan
Ok, where is the real Plum and what have they done with him? Is this the same coach who earlier played his players into the ground because he didn’t back his youngsters? But seriously, this is great news and I think its one of the best moves Plum has done since he moved Lambie to flyhalf. Go Capt. Keegan!!!
@Pokkel (Comment 22) : Ag besig ou swaer. Wou net hierdie gem met al my Sharks maaitjies deel.
Really stoked go keegan, welldone Plummy, GO SHARKS!
@klempie (Comment 28) :
Ek sien jy is meestal naweke besig hier by SW en ek bly naweke weg so ons loop mekaar nie meer veel raak nie.
@klempie (Comment 28) : You come as if you were summoned. 😆
You were mentioned on the Craven week thread. 🙂
Now if Plum would just keep him at 8thman I will be even happier. Well done Keegs!
Vat so kwagga, BIG BIG congratulations to Keegs, man u deserve it…..
GUYS!!!! It’s almost rugga time again!!! I am stoked!!! 😀 😀
@Ice (Comment 34) : Sharks vs Bulls on Saturday! Awesome! 🙂
@Ben (Comment 35) : Boy oh Boy!! 😀
@Ice (Comment 36) : Are we going to Durban? Your treat??? 😆
Long overdue. Keegs is the man they turn to when the chips are down.
@Ben (Comment 37) : I’m in I’m in… Her treat 🙂
Awesome news! Have always thought that the Captain should come from the pack. In Keegan we trust.
I’m 200% behind him!!
Great news. At last some fresh ideas are appearing to come to the fore. Hope the ideas dont wither and hope we dont become the Retirement Village that the valley of the mountain goats used to be a few years ago.
Really glad Keegan has been made captain. He has worked hard and has the respect of the team. It is funny because at a lot of the team huddles it hasn’t been the captain speaking it has been Keegan.
When is Oupa retiring? I am hoping it is this year. As much as I like the guy he just can’t cut it anymore.
Fantastic appointment! Congrats Keegan, really matured from his early days and a great leader-by-example.
@Culling Song (Comment 17) : That reminds me of Madagascar (the movie). In the beginning Marty the Zebra is running in slow motion across a field with that victory lap song playing… then Alex the Lion interupts him!!
I can just imagine you in your office… running around in slow motion… the victory lap tune playing loudly… and then your Blue Bull supporting boss walks in (music stops, u stop dead in a midyear leap) and says, “Hoekom doen jy nie jou werk nie?” 😆
@lostfish (Comment 43) : What are you talking about?? Why should Oupa Stef retire – he is in his prime! How can you just “like” uncle Stef, you should love him! He is simply brilliant week in and week out… Don’t give me that look that says you have no idea what I’m talking about. There is no way you cannot agree… that he is a simply excellent commentator 😆 😆 😆
@rhineshark (Comment 32) : I think he will be 8th man for as long as Kanko and Alberts is away. In fact, even if both come back I still hope that he remains in the No8 jersey!
@The Sharks Sharkie (Comment 45) : Actually come to think of it I was doing the exact same thing only to be stopped and asked if I was mentally sane 😆
@The Sharks Sharkie (Comment 47) : we hope but as soon as konko is back he move
@Culling Song (Comment 23) : No one missed it don’t worry, we all know you have posters of him covering your room’s walls. 😉
@franshark (Comment 49) : Well Kanko ain’t a bad No8 at all either. Keegan can play flank very well too so no loss their really.
@KingRiaan (Comment 27) : Nah I think this is the Plum from Utopia. They made a switch somehow!
@The Sharks Sharkie (Comment 51) : i also enjoy Keegs at 8 and it might happen that kanko goes to WC and then Keegs will be playing 8 most season 😉
@franshark (Comment 53) : Hopefully for both Keegs and Kanko’s sake.
Oh captain my captain! 100% behind this!
YEAH MAN!!!!!!!!
YOU GO BOY!
@Ben (Comment 37) : @franshark (Comment 39) : If I win the Lotto tonight – SURE, why not! 😆
@Ice (Comment 57) : Pick the Newcastle guys up on the way! 😉
Congratulations Keegan!
Also very stoked that this should mean that Oupa need not play every game, or be on the playing field at all next year.
me pleased 😀
Good luck Keegan – sure you’ll do well.
And so it begins, really happy for Keegan and I’m sure Stefan will give him all the support he’ll need.
