The Lions take on the Pumas at Coca-Cola Park tonight, in the game that will kick off the 2011 Currie Cup season, which will be a rather watered down competition without the Springbok stars and all the second stringers who will doing Tri Nations duty.
The Lions are the least disrupted top 5 team with only Elton Jantjies and Butch James not available for selection, and in the last watered down Rugby World Cup affected Currie Cup in 2007, they actually made the final, so the motivation should be there for the Lions to have a decent season.
The Pumas have a massive task ahead of them this season as they will try to achieve the impossible and finish above two other teams and so remain in the Premier division next season as the Currie Cup changes its ways again, returning to a Top 6 league.
The match kicks off at 19h00.
