Already weakened by the continued absence of star playmaker Sarel Pretorius, Griquas coach Abrie Minnie has been dealt a further blow ahead of his side’s round 2 Currie Cup clash against the Lions.
Former Bulls age-group winger Rocco Jansen – one of the stars in the 26-all draw at Newlands in round 1, scoring a brace of tries – has been ruled out after breaking a bone in his hand. Jansen’s place in the starting lineup goes to Sevens star Fabian Juries, while Sharks Academy recruit Shannon Rick continues in the number 9 jersey.
Loose forward Justin Downey and flyhalf Monty Dumond are the other former Sharks players in the lineup.

Richard Lawson was on WP’s books for quite a few years.
He seems to have developed nicely. I can’t believe we didn’t really give him a shot while he was with us. 👿
@wpw (Comment 5) : i`m not a huge fan of lawson, he lacks pace for a wing. he did well with the try Jansen scored, but should have scored it himself if he had better pace. what other positions can he play?

If I’m not mistaken he started out as a fullback.
he was pretty skinny back then but he has certainly bulked up – weighs a hefty 94kgs at the moment!!
@wpw (Comment 7) : i think he would make a brilliant 13. his a good player with good skills, but i think wing is not his position. maybe fullback would suit him aswell, if he`s got a healthy boot.
