Apologies for the awful title, but former Rovers flyhalf Wes “Horse” Dunlop looks set to make his Currie Cup debut at last – for none other than the Leopards!
Dunlop, who left Durban to play for Tukkies in the Varsity Cup, has been on the fringes of the Bulls squad for the last few months, picking up a Vodacom Cup cap or two and also representing the blue horde in a pre-season friendly. A lack of game time has prompted him to make the move to Potchefstroom and he’ll be available to Leon Boshoff’s side for the duration of the Currie Cup season.
Dunlop has been named on the Leopards bench for this weekend’s clash against the Lions in Johannesburg.
Leopards: 15 George Tossel; 14 Danie Dames, 13 Charl Weidemann, 12 Joubert Engelbrecht, 11 Wynand Willis; 10 Clayton Durandt (capt), 9 Whestley Moolman; 8 MornΓ© Hanekom, 7 Luvo Lusaseni, 6 Philip de Wet, 5 Brendon Snyman, 4 Ruan van Heerden, 3 Stoof Bezuidenhout, 2 Stoffel Duvenhage, 1 BG Uys.
Reserves: 16 BΓͺrend Botha, 17 Gavin Williamson, 18 Christo van Niekerk, 19 Spanner Pretorius, 20 Theo van Wyk, 21 Wesley Dunlop, 22 Walter Venter

Spanner Pretorius! Hahaha π
Rob, any idea where Jovan Bowles is playing this season?
@Caratacus (Comment 2) : wow… no, can’t say I do.
He was with the leopards last year, but seems to have left
Didn’t immediately catch the lazy horse reference but in my defence I’m all kinds of tired π
@vanmartin (Comment 4) : i’m still not catching – but in my defence i’m sort of blonde π
@vanmartin (Comment 4) : @rekinek (Comment 5) : A leopard in Afrikaans is a luiperd… which very loosely translates back to “lazy horse” (lui perd)
It’s a very weak, very old Afrikaans joke
@robdylan (Comment 6) : π
Dunlop = Dan lop hy,Dan hop hy. π³
Horse??? Sounds like a nickname best left in the changeroom… π
@Ben (Comment 1) : One guess says he’s dad is a mechanic. π
Stoof Bezuidenhout?
