The Sharks have included Ryan Kankowski in his customary number 8 position for tomorrow’s Currie Cup clash against Western Province, after he was released from the Bok training group yesterday.

Keegan Daniel, who was originally named in the number 8 jersey will shift to the side of the scrum, replacing Jacques Botes, who drops to the reserve bench. Marcell Coetzee will continue at blind side flank, with young Francois Kleinhans dropping down to the Sharks under 21 side, where he will presumably start in the number 6 jersey.

Revised Sharks team:

15 Louis Ludik, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Stefan Terblanche, 12 Patrick Lambie, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Frederic Michalak, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Marcell Coetzee, 6 Keegan Daniel (capt), 5 Ross Skeate, 4 Anton Bresler, 3 Eugene van Staden, 2 Craig Burden, 1 Dale Chadwick
16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Wiehahn Herbst, 18 Jandre Marais, 19 Jacques Botes, 10 Conrad Hoffmann, 21 Adrian Jacobs, 22 Marius Joubert

  • This is a very solid team and should be able to take Province if they play a full 80.

  • Our strengthened u21 team will hopefully cause an upset in Cape Town.

On paper they might not even be the underdogs anymore.

  • Im glad that they retained Marcell Coetzee in there..

It would have been easy to drop him to the bench and start Keegan, Botes and Kanko together..

Did Hadebe not play the last match, so Malton will get his turn to lead?
