The Cheetahs, who ran the Lions close in Johannesburg last week, have made few changes to their team to face the Pumas in the only Currie Cup game scheduled for this Saturday.

The loss of yo-yo man Ash Johnson to the Bok cause (he’s been named on the bench for this weekend’s test against the All Blacks) sees Boom Prinsloo come back in at number 8. The anticipated return of Juan Smith to the number 7 jersey has, of course, been put on ice, with the big Bok having withdrawn himself from World Cup selection due to ongoing injury. Izak van der Westhuizen comes in for Waltie Vermeulen at lock in the only other change to the pack.

Amongst the backs, Tewis de Bruyn is back at scrumhalf in the only change, while there are two new faces on the bench this weekm in the form of veteran utility forward Ockert van Zyl and 20-year-old Shimlas scrumhalf Enrico Acker.

Free State Cheetahs: 15 Riaan Smit, 14 Philip Snyman, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Corné Uys, 11 Ryno Benjamin, 10 Sias Ebersohn, 9 Tewis de Bruyn, 8 Boom Prinsloo, 7 Pieter Labuschagne, 6 Johan Wessels, 5 Izak van der Westhuizen, 4 Francois Uys, 3 WP Nel, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Coenie Oosthuizen.
Replacements: 16 Hercu Liebenberg, 17 Marcel van der Merwe, 18 Ockert van Zyl, 19 Pieter Myburgh, 20 Enrico Acker, 21 Johan Goosen, 22 Philip Burger.
