Cheetahs take it easy against Leopards

Free State Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has announced his team to face the Leopards this weekend, and has made the call to rest some of his more important players, while other miss out due to injury.

Hennie Daniller is back at fullback after a lengthy spell on the side of the field. Him and Philip Burger, who starts for a change, will add much needed experience to the backline that has seen a fair few changes. Cameron Jacobs starts on the other wing, while Johan Goosen gets a start at flyhalf ahead of Sias Ebersohn.

Ashley Johnson is injured and is replaced by Boom Prinsloo at the back of the scrum, while Coenie Oosthuizen makes the positional swop to tighthead in place of the injured WP Nel. Young Marcel van der Merwe takes Coenie’s place and they flank captain Adriaan Strauss in the front row.

Free State Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Philip Burger, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Philip Snyman, 11 Cameron Jacobs, 10 Johan Goosen, 9 Pieter van Zyl, 8 Boom Prinsloo, 7 Philip van der Walt, 6 Pieter Labuschagne, 5 Izak van der Westhuizen, 4 Francois Uys, 3 Coenie Oosthuizen, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Marcel van der Merwe.

Replacements: 16 Hercu Liebenberg, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 Johan Wessels, 20 Tewis de Bruyn, 21 Sias Ebersohn, 22 Riaan Smit.
