The curtain raisers at Loftus today should make for some interesting rugby as the Sharks are away to the Bulls, and with three games taking place, both unions will be looking for a clean sweep.
The U19ās are up first, with kick off at 12h40, where they will be hoping to put on a better display compared to the heavy loss they took against the Lions last weekend. There have been a few changes to the team in an attempt to find the best starting 15, and Iām sure the boys will give their best.
The Sharks U19: 15. Keelin Bastew, 14. Janco Tiedt, 13. Andrew Holland, 12. Ruan Allerston, 11. Siyabonga Tom, 10. Heinrich Arendse, 9. Ivan Ludick, 8. Stephan Deyzel, 7. Alwyn Jansen van Vuuren, 6. Khaya Majola, 5. Stephan Lewies, 4. Wade Elliot, 3. Nicolaas van Dyk, 2. Franco Marais, 1. Allan Dell (Capt)
Reserves: 16. Senzo Mtshali, 17. Simon Kerrod, 18. Ernst Ladendorf, 19. Jason Klaasen, 20. Guy Alexander, 21. Nicol Linde, 22. Robert du Preez, 23. Riaan van Zyl.
Blue Bulls U19: Christian Rust, Richard Dean Gorrah, William Small-Smith (k), Christopher Bosch, Travis Ismaiel, Tony Jantjies, Rudi van Rooyen, Nardus van der Walt, Malherbe van Wyk, Shaun Adendorff, Schalk van Heerden, Herman Groenewald, Jencus van Wyk, Jason Thomas, Du Toit Genis.
Reserves: Jaco Visagie, Christoph Gouws, Stefan Willemse, Meyrick Walker, Jacques Olivier, Danie Ludick, Andile Jho.
The U21ās are doing a bit better at the moment as a win today could secure them second spot on the log. They do face a talented Bulls outfit though, and will have to play for 80 minutes the way they played in the last 20 against the Lions last weekend. The loss of Francois Kleinhans is a significant one, but Chris Cloete will take the opportunity with both hands!
The Sharks U21: 15. Gouws Prinsloo, 14. Jaco van Tonder, 13. Piet Lindeque, 12. Heimar Williams, 11. Nico van der Westhuizen, 10. Fred Zeilinga, 9. Cobus Reinach, 8. Lubabalo Mtembu, 7. Siseko Jafta, 6. Chris Cloete, 5. Peet Marais, 4. Pieter-Stef du Toit, 3. Nick Schonert, 2. Monde Hadebe (Capt), 1. Danie Mienie.
Reserves: 16. Shaun Malton, 17. Njabulo Mkize, 18. Karolis Navickas, 19. Brynard Stander, 20. Peter du Toit, 21. Paul Jordaan, 22. Kieran Goss.
Blue Bulls U21: Clayton Blommetjies, Sampie Mastriet, Ulrich Beyers, Adri Jacobs, Cournall Skosan, JC Roos, Lohan Jacobs, Jono Ross (c), Wiaan Liebenberg, Dalton Davis, Franco Mostert, Gerno Eksteen, Gerhard Engelbrecht, Bongi Mbonambi, Juan Louw Schoeman.
Reserves: Jacques Momberg, Basil Short, Rudolph Smit, JJ Breet, Xander Redelinghuys, Franco Maritz, Bradley Moolman

Seriously, who calls their kid ‘Jencus’? That’s abuse
I don’t see the point of having Paul Jotdaan on the bench for u21s when he could be ripping it up with the u19s..
Parking around Loftus is already starting to fill up. This game should have quite an atmosphere.
Tin under 19s are warming up in the sun. It’s a beautiful day in Pretoria.
The under 19s are warming up in the sun. It’s a beautiful day in Pretoria.
@war1 (Comment 5) : š must be beautiful… Since you say it twice š
@war1 (Comment 3) : Jealousy makes me nasty… Wish I was there š
@Franshark (Comment 6) : Beautiful squared! But seriously, I made a spelling mistake in my first post and I tried to fix it and it posted comment twice.
@war1 (Comment 8) :
And we have kick off in the under 19 game. Good pressure from Sharks u19 means the B Bulls u19 concede a kickable penalty . . . which is missed.
@war1 (Comment 10) : These are the guys I’d be grateful to have performance feedback on:
9. Poerie van Rooyen who looks like a really good prospect for senior rugby in a few years time
12. Chris Bosch the linebreaker
08. Nardus vdW who has some serious speed
06. Shaun Adendorff from Glenwood and his schoolmate Merrick Walker if he comes on
Also 01. Allan Dell at loosehead again and 12. Ruan Allerston
@beet (Comment 11) : Will have a look. Btw after about 11 mins the BB u19 lead 8-0.
@war1 (Comment 12) : Thanks. Much appreciated
BBu19 29 – Sharksu19 3. Half time.
Oh crap. I’ve seen this film before
@war1 (Comment 14) : its not looking bad on the scoreboard but 35min + altitude suggests that the Bulletjies will get past the 50 marker today
@beet (Comment 16) : oops. Misread. I thought we had 19 points. We only have 3.
Sharks u19 playing much better in 2nd half and Dell gets a push over try. 29-10 down after ten mins of the 2nd half.
Go Tally š
Great second half for the Sharks u19, final score 32-24 to the B Bulls u19.
@war1 (Comment 20) : Good result. Sounds like we really dug deep in that 2nd half. Thanks War1.
@beet (Comment 21) : The Bulls also had a guy yellow carded, but we started to keep the ball and put them under pressure. Little Nicol Linde injected quite a bit of pace and scored our third try.
Allerston scored the other try and kicked the points. Rudi van Rooyen had a good game for the Bulls and Ismaiel played very well and scored a couple for them as well.
@war1 (Comment 23) : thanks for the score… Is it warm there?
WTF?? Supersport’s log shows us having already played today’s game and having lost 32-24??????
@KSA Shark Ā© (Comment 25) : I’m talking about the Senior side BTW??
Under 21s kick off. Bulls put pressure, win the penalty and kick it over 3-0 after 2 mins.
@KSA Shark Ā© (Comment 26) : Don’t tell that to a conspiracy theorist š that was the under 19 score probably just an honest mistake.
6-6 after about 8 mins. Trading penalties and still feeling each other out.
@war1 (Comment 28) : Supersport’s usual standards š
Trading penalties again until mastriet breaks the line brilliantly and scores for the Bulls. Not converted 14-9 to the Bulls.
Sharks strike back through Cloete. Prinsloo misses and its 14 all.
14 all 35 mins.
14 all. Half time. Great game so far.
How the hell can Mastriet honestly still be u21? He’s been playing for them for about 5 years
Jacobs scores for the Bulls, its converted and its 21-14 to the Bulls.
Mr rob dylan sampie mastriet is turning 21 this year like blommetjies its his last year playing under 21 rugby.No doubt he is a real talent he looks a better player than van den heever.
Which jacobs the scrumhalf or the centre ?!?!
Sorry for the dearth of updates. My connection was playing games. It was the scrumhalf who scored for the Bulls. Final score 37-28 to the Bulls under 21.
Full match reports tomorrow.
